In 1995 I heard Anneke in a dutch radio show (Arbeidsvitaminen) presenting her favorite top 3. After that they played a song from Mandylion, I can't remember which one but it must have been Strange Machines. The reason I stayed listening was because I liked what they said in the introduction to Mandylion. But I didn't like the song at all, so I forgot all about The Gathering.

Until in 1996, two songs from Mandylion were performed by Anneke and the Metropole Orchestra. After that I thought, well, I should give them a second chance. I bought the album a week later, and I was thrilled! Wow, this was the best I ever heard. Why didn't I buy this before? Oh yeah, I didn't like it. What?! I couldn't believe I didn't like it before

I've been a fan ever since, and I love everything they made. But somehow Mandylion is still the best album I have in my entire collection...
