EURO 2004 CD: THE DUTCH 2 METER SESSIONS

This compilation cd with a collection of unique (semi-)acoustic so-called 2 meter sessions by famous Dutch rock, pop & dance acts is an initiative of the Dutch government and is presented as a special gift to international guests during the Dutch chairmanship of the European Union in the second half of 2004.

The 2 Meter Sessions (named after presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske's length) started in 1987 and soon became a regular feature on Dutch radio and TV. Originally the sessions were acoustic, but during the series the rules were eased. The 2 Meter Session archive contains over a thousand recordings by artists as Alanis Morisette, Bobby Womack and Paul Weller, REM, Nirvana and Coldplay, and, ofcourse, all relevant bands from the Netherlands.

The Dutch 2 Meter Sessions: rock, pop and dance music from the Netherlands 2004 has been compiled and produced by the Dutch Rock & Pop Institute. The institute is financed by the Dutch government and it's aim is to promote and support the Dutch rock, pop and dance music in the Netherlands and abroad. Did The Gathering do a special '2 meter session' recording for this? That's what the information above suggests. The track we can download (see link) is shorter (5:44) compared to the album version (6:06). I think this version is a little bit different (Drums, Annneke singing, ...)
