Have u ever thought of making a concept album?

all the previous records had some form of concept on them.(be that a main idea hovering through songs like HTMAP/Home, or an intricate pattern of multiple layers(sound wise) like Souvenirs, etc.

I know it's a heavy task to take on, and only great bands ever managed to pull it off..but the Gathering IS a great band. so i was wondering why it never happened...

I'm ecstatic at your work so far anyway..you've done a brilliant job at making inspirational music, and i'm sure your next album will be as great as the previous ones..much respect..

We need a very strong idea. A very good one.

First I want to say that I enjoyed the concerts I saw last months: great job! See you in Drachten again. I'm sorry for all those people who talk during the concerts, in Sneek for example; lukily Groningen was very OK.

Ehm, I guess you know fabchannel.com as there are two The Gathering concerts online to view. I'm interested in why this is done, isn't it very expensive? But maybe I ask the wrong person . At least it's very cool for the fans!

Forthcomming from discovering fabchannel, the question rose to me: isn't it relatively cheap for you to release a DVD with (parts of) those concerts? Or at least a livealbum? Does fabchannel archive all camera-tapes (or how they call it) so it can be remixed when nessesary?

Then, do you record all shows you give and re-listen pieces? Does The Gathering have an archive with live recordings?

No, it wasn't very expensive, don't worry! Maybe we will use these recordings, they are very good and professional done. Don't know about archives and Fabchannel. We have! :) But we don't listen that often to live gigs we recorded. It is better to create new tunes.

Hello Hans
Do you already have any confirmation to play in Portugal?

No, not yet. But of course we want to play some gigs (with or without wigs) in Portugal!

Question,

About when and where will you record the show of the coming DVD?
Or isn't it settled yet?

It isn't settled yet. We don't know yet. We are aiming for a DVD and Live CD release in 2007.

I guess that depends on how you look at it.. In general I feel that's just dutch "nuchterheid" culture shining through. Although I have to admit it's quite hard to go to a concert of "band zonder banaan" or jovink and not find a rocking audience ;).

But in reality, I don't really care where the DVD is gonna be shot. I'd have no problem with it if it was shot in a small intimate venue where the audience is mostly quiet :).

Country doesn't matter... Ahhh well, aslong as there aren't reunion parties going on at the same time ;)
But we're going offtopic, perhaps it's time to go to sleep and let this wash all over us?

It would be nice if the live cd is not the same recording of the DVD ;)

Question:

Hello! Hans, says a thing: Before the shows marked to Latin America didn't see still nor it is wanted... a rumor regarding a show in Brazil... will it be that some exists negotiation to that respect? Will it be that can wait for good news? At once thank you very much! Hugs to the family The Gathering!

Hans,

This is both a question and a suggestion:
Why not record the DVD and live CD in a DECENT Portuguese venue?
Check this: http://www.coliseulisboa.com/
