Ah this is a great post because I always wondered who this song was about. Good to know it's Mozart, now things make sense! I love Mozart aswell, I'll be performing in the Marriage of Figaro in Spring and Im studying Cherubino right now ( who is just the funnest Mozart character ever). Thanks for answering my question!

Hm, I thought this song was about Maurice Ravel, a classical composer who went insane near the end of his life and who is best known for the Boléro
This would be consistent with the lines:
"Leaning over your fortieth masterpiece, you must have loved the colour of these violins."
"I wish you knew your music was to stay forever."
and
"Your fit of insanity makes me sad."

And last but not least: "Travel" has the name "Ravel" embedded in it.

But if Anneke said it's about Mozart, then it's about Mozart. You cannot argue with the artist about what a piece of art is about.
