Hi all,

Since I'm new here, I'm not sure if there's already a topic 'bout this. I'm curious about Rene's gear. Sure everyone knows he uses several Gibsons and Koch amps. And I even saw him play a Telecaster during yesterday's Paradiso concert (which was great!).

But what I like to know is: what kind of effects does he use? Meaning rack-mounted thingies and stompboxes. I once noticed a Big Muff and a volume pedal, the website mentions only Rocktron. Can anyone give some more details?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about this one but I recognized the DL4 when I looked at his rig. I would say this is the key of The Gathering clean guitar sound.

I did actually quiet copied his distorted sound, by using this settings:

Amp: Behringer GX212, FX Setting 22(Delay), Bass:7Mid:4Treble:7
FX: Line 6 Uber Metal (on Pulverize)
Guitar: Epiphone Les Paul

I had my seat right in front of René at the Paradiso concert, and this is what I could see taht he used:

*Koch Powertone head and 4x12 cabinet
*Ernie Ball Mono Volume pedal
*Morley wah wah
*Line6 DL4 Delay
*Rocktron Intellifex
*A rack-tuner
*Some other rack device...perhaps an Eventide Harmonizer (not sure)

*Theremin with lots of delay
*Ebow

Right, so here's what we got 'till now:
*Koch Powertone head and 4x12 cabinet
*Ernie Ball Mono Volume pedal
*Morley wah wah
*Line6 DL4 Delay
*Rocktron Intellifex DSP Effects Processor
*A rack-tuner (Korg?)
*Theremin
*Electro Harmonix Big Muff
*Ebow, handheld sustainer device

Unsure about:
*Some other rack device...perhaps an Eventide Harmonizer
*Digitech Whammy?

A clue to what and how Rene does what he does on "Like fountains" would be welcome. Would like to have a go at generating that kind of effects with my setup and without hitting a string... Not that my setup will do I guess but still. Would like to know...

Hi everybody. I just want to share the information I got.

After doing some researching about the Koch Powertone, I´ve found that he uses:
- Powertone heads
- TS412SL-DLX cabinets
- Twintone combo
- Loadbox
- Pedaltone

You can check out this information at:
http://www.koch-amps.com/artists/index.cfm?liststart=35

By the way... thanks for posting all this information. It was a great help for my research.

so, still no distortion, cause he doesn't use the Big Muff all the time as you can hear!

I think that he uses the amps distortion. I could see him tapping the chanel-switcher a couple of times.

He´s messing around with delay time and repeat on his Line 6 DL-4, creating at lot of strange feedback noise.

Thanks! I guess he's using some other effect(s) as well but I'll see what I can come up tampering with delay on my setup.

During that period of time I think he used, as you noticed: Marshall Valvestate head + cabinet, Boss DS-2 (distortion), Boss DD-2 (delay) and the a Boss pedalboard with in-built effects.
