You know, I used to think that initially. Then later I decided it was, "And I'm glad the rain falls down."

You know, we can't all be wrong. There must have been a mistake in the lyrics booklet. Yeah, that's it...

Morphia's Waltz:

I misheard: "I see your eyes / blue and white open / take your time / mighty white creature"

instead of "I see your eyes / blue and wide open / take your time / my divine creature"

:D

Maybe it's cause it sounds like "and the gEthering falls down" = "and agAIn the rain falls down"

Same here. In my opinion when we ear this we think Anneke sings biographically about the band. Some members had left the band before she came and so the song could deals with that. In fact our brain wants to ear what it already knows. :)

From "In Between"

The actual lyrics go:
"Hence the strain it brings
If only we understand"

I keep hearing:
"Hamster strain it brings
If only we understand"

I keep thinking, poor hamster!

My double mondegreen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mondegreen) is from Bad Movie Scene (if_then_else):
Quote:
This is the back door
that will lead you out
to find the Elli of your dreams

Who's Elli? :D

I then thought it must be a funny pronunciation of "to find the ally of your dreams", but it's actually "alley".

That makes sense in older cities where there is a street at the front and an alley at the back (Victorian era?),
but in the Australian suburbs I know, the back door leads to the back yard, which abuts the neighbouring yards (no alleys.)

OK, Ocean Roadster here's yet another attempt to transcribe Tolkien;

"There's no such thing as a natural death, nothing that happens to man is ever natural, since his presence calls the whole world into question. All men must die but for every man his death is an axiom, and even if he knows it and consents to it, an unjustifiable violation, Well, you may agree with the words or not, but those are the..are the keystring of the laws of the living."

And Lord Wolfheart.. you're not alone! :D
Freudian slip of the ears.[/quote]

Sleep, child, sleep
Rest your eyes
Until the sun goes down and you awake
Tonight
Everyone's Dead
Again...

Hmmm. I didn't really get it but t sounded very gothic. 8)

Hahaha, my first thought when I first read the title of the thread was something like the misheard lyrics being posted on youtube.

Quite late to the thread (came from Google), but just for the record: Tolkien's actually citing Simone de Beauvoir on "Une Mort Très Douce" (A Very Easy Death):

"There is no such thing as a natural death: nothing that happens to a man is ever natural, since his presence calls the world into question. All men must die: but for every man his death is an accident and, even if he knows it and consents to it, an unjustifiable violation."

The original:

"Il n'y a pas de mort naturelle: rien de ce qui arrive à l'homme n'est jamais naturel puisque sa présence met le monde en question. Tous les hommes sont mortels mais pour chaque homme sa mort est un accident et, même s'il la connaît et y consent, une violence indue."

I know Nightwish has Fishmaster, End Of All Dope, and they used to have Roman Suicide as misheard lyrics on Youtube. But I don't know if there are really Gathering misheard lyrics. Anyone knows of that?

Hahahaha! I had this argument with my brother..LOL He heard the same thing and I had to use the lyric sheet to convince him (along with a little context logic). But, yeah, I can see how people might hear that.

I was hearing "All tears turning inside" It still sounds better to me :D

Same line, but I heard:

You Learn About It / Your heart Is Dead, You Can't Take No More / All That's Hidden Inside

Very dark. I know it better now, but I still hear these words... :green:

It would be so cool if we all would just call 3FM and say we'd have a Mamma Appelsap here... :)
