My current rank considers study albums (LP) only (... the correct thing… I guess):

My ranking:

HTMAP [9/10]
Always [8.5]
If_Then_Else [7/10]
Home [6/10]
Souvenirs [2/10]
Almost A Dance [-1/10]

Hm, I have no authority to add much to this thread, but it does help given I wil probably buy another Gathering release.

I have Nighttime Birds. It sat on my shelf as a gift for 5 years and I finally picked up on it about a year ago. It is cool.

:D I can't argue with that.

Trying to rank the albums depends on what mood I'm in at the time - do I feel like the metal power of the early albums, the dreamy experimental middle period, or the introspective "Home"? I can't decide - they're all so good!

I think I can say that "How To Measure A Planet?" is one of my favorite albums of all time, all bands included. This piece of music suits my taste like none other. The quality of the music, the layers, etc. Everything has been made just perfectly for my ears.

As for the other TG albums, I would go with what has been said already: there are the Anneke-era ones (the order changes) and then, the pre-Anneke ones which I don't really care for.

I don't even want to rank the non-Anneke albums, ok it's the gathering, but naaaaa don't like them...

The albums onwards from Mandylion are great with 3 very special ones for me:
1 Souvenirs, because my copy has the incorrect tracklist on it and a signature of Anneke on the front
2 Sleepy Buildings, because I attended the recording of it.
3 A Sound Relief, well it's not strictly an album, but because again I attended the making of it, it has a special place in my heart

the 4 at the top are pretty much interchangeable but I guess if you forced me to pick it would be like
Mandylion
Nighttime Birds
HTMAP?
if_then_else
Home
Always...
Souvenirs
Almost a Dance (though if you replaced the vocals with Anneke it would be higher )
