The Gathering

Not sure if this has been done before here as I just joined but a few days ago. But I am curious to see what albums are most popular among fans.

My list is as follows.

1. Mandylion
2. How to Measure a Planet?
3. Souvenirs
4. If_Then_Else
5. Home
6. Nighttime Birds
7. Always...
8. Almost a Dance

Not sure where "Home" is going to rank because I haven't heard it yet so here is a list off the top of my head:

1. How to Measure a Planet?
2. Mandylion
3. Tie: Black light District/Passengers in time
5. Superheat
6. If_then_else
7. Sleepy Buildings
8. Nighttime birds
9. 3 way tie: Always/Downfall/Accessories
10. Souvenirs
11. Almost a Dance

Tough call....

1) Superheat (first Gathering album I heard and it still has some of their strongest songs, and the energy is GREAT! I'll hope for a chance to see them live one day!)
2) How to Measure... (one of those beautiful works of art that, even desipte some flaws, still sounds totally one-of-a-kind. The experimentation would never mix so well with the 'normal' songwriting again!)
3) Souvenirs (beautiful. This got me BACK into the Gathering in a big way... it still sounds so different from anything, it grabbed me the first time I heard any of it! Only possible 'flaw' is because it's quite esoteric, it's not something that will grab everyone right away)
4) Mandylion (set the template and is still an engrossing listen)
5) Black Light District (only a few tunes but I think they're all fantastic!)
6) If_Then_Else (this is tough because there's a LOT of great songs on here, but a few slightly weaker ones drop it for me)
7) Nighttime Birds (interesting stuff but for the most part it doesn't sound like the songs were fully developed, and not enough variety on the slower ones either, but there's still a few fantastic tracks!)

For what it's worth, TG is one of very few bands I like where even their 'weakest' album in my mind, NtB, would still rate a solid 7/10 or thereabouts.... the others all crack 8 easily, and most would be a 9 or 9.5!

Home is my absolute favorite. After hearing the album quite a few times, I'm in love with the songs. The atmosphere on the album is exactly what I like, it just feels so right. It's great.

It´s very haed to seperate good albums from eachother (obviously I couldn´t....) but this is my ranking of their albums.
