The Wikipedia article has sales figures for all the studio albums from Mandylion onwards:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gathering_%28band%29

I don't know how accurate they are, though.

Are they local sales, european or international figures? They seem awfully small for international sales.

You may have heard that it went "gold"? But I believe that gold means different things. In the USA, gold = 500,000.

No. I know gold in us is 500,000, and other places it's a lot less. I don't remember the post but it said over 500,000 sold for mandylion.

So the album sales at that sight is worldwide? I'd of thought they have sold more.

I think here in Europe a CD becomes gold when it reachs 50.000 copies and platinum when it solds more than 100.000. Also hans said once that Mandylion sold 130.000 aprox, so... :P

Aren't you confusing Mandylion with Comalies (i saw you on Empty Spiral too). That one sold 230,000 in the US and 270,000 outside the US, and Lacuna Coil are Century Media's most succesful act (in terms of sales) so i don't think Mandylion sold as much.

No, I'm not confusing one band with another.

I didn't say that Mandylion sold 500,000.

I didn't say that Mandylion went Gold.

I said I read in a post that SOMEONE ELSE said Mandylion was the most sold album of The Gathering, selling around 500,000 copies.

I am sure whom ever wrote that was in error.

Mandylion got gold in the NL but I don't know for sure how much copies it means... i know in France it means 50 000 copies but well, you have about 4 times more French ppl than Dutch so I guess this gold/platinium things are a rate of population...

I had a look at my archive of printed Top 40 & Mega Top 50/100 Charts magazines to see when an album becomes gold in The Netherlands

Dutch ALBUM charts at the time of Mandylion (1995/1996) :
gold = 50.000 (from 2001 40.000 is enough for reaching gold status)
platinum = 100.000 (from 2001 80.000 is enough for platinum status)

Dutch SINGLE charts at the time of Strange Machines (1995/1996):
gold = 50.000 (from 2001: 40.000)
platinum = 75.000 (from 2001: 60.000)

I don't know what are the current number of sold copies for gold/platinum. Those might be changed because less cd's are sold, but nowadays downloads are counted too (single charts).
