Light Of Day Day Of Darkness isn't from 2006, but it's a masterpiece, indeed. "The Acoustic Verses" is a good one, but I don't consider it a masterpiece.

+ 1

except two or three songs, "The acoustic verses" is not that good. Currently, there are better bands playing acoustic songs

also i dont listen to Light of Day anymore. (true, it's not from 2006, it was re-released only as a digipack)

PS and On topic : i dont and wouldn't mind if Anneke listened to music i dont like... she has her taste, fortunately.

I don't know Manda/Nemesea, but voting for The Gathering and the E-word (also a favorite of mine, despite what other's think) is enough for me to check them out on spec.

Who are you to tell someone else what to like and not like?

This thread makes me want to vomit.

We've known for some time that Anneke likes Justin Timberlake's music. There will be some old posts about it on this forum.

I find it intriguing that Arjen Lucassen mentions Katatonia, and that several people - including Mikael Akerfeldt and Steven Wilson - mention Scott Walker, once of the Walker Brothers (40 years ago?).

A few people - Rob Halford for one - seem to have their heads stuck firmly in one particular "bag". I like it when I discover that our musical friends have wide-ranging tastes.

But ...

Quote:
Johan Edlund (Tiamat)
* Moonspell – Memorial
* Johnny Cash - American 5: A Hundred Highways
* Liv Kristine – Enter My Religion

With all due respect to Liv, Enter My Religion is a good album, but hard rocking stuff it ain't - and nor does it set out to be. This seems so far distant from how I think about Tiamat. :wink:

what a shallow debate.

it's obvious that any serious musician willing to be CREATIVE has to draw inspiration from other genres than his. would all those death or black metal demo bands sound alike if all of them didn't have the sames influences? obviously not.
people are so stuck into the idea of styles & genres they forget that ALL of the (european/western) music of the last 500 years has been made with different combinations of the SAME 12 NOTES. period.

Yes, I find it intriguing that Arjen Lucassen mentions Katatonia. Full stop. This isn't a contribution to any debate. It's just a few observations - my personal opinion - and that's all. Same goes for the rest of the comment I posted.
