And also she is a beautiful person, not only talented, one of the most down to earth ive met, a wonderful friend. But i truely doubt it will happen, lets see what the band decides, maybe they already have ppl in mind or maybe they audition.... ohhh these times are so bitter. I just want a new TG CD that helps forget the pain. :flower:

I tend to agree a long shot, Stream of Passion was awesome I would be happy if they got going again.
But for those who don't know Marcela here's some Gathering cover stuff she did (rehearsal) for a tribute...

Her voice like Anneke's , tons of talent, beauty, and emotion.

She's still doing stuff with Elfonia too so unless she quits something, she'd be stretched, no?

Vibeke has a great flexible voice, although she did leave her group to pursue other things, so I guess she has something planned.

She's working only with Stream of Passion at this time. Elfonia took an indefinite break. She said she was flattered by hearing these comments. It would be nice indeed! I agree with Faridee, but let's see what happens :flower:

For what it's worth, Marcela was my first thought too. On the one hand, she does these tribute things really well (but perhaps with not so good musicians - on the YouTube videos you need to listen to Marcela and not the rest!). On the other, if she ended up being little more than an Anneke copy, that wouldn't be the best outcome.

If the thing went Marcela's way, she could contribute a similar and yet slightly different vocal approach (a bit of Spanish, perhaps), but it would be important to move away and establish something quite new. I'm sure she could do that.

On stage, she's great, and she has a superb voice. In fact, if you listen to the SOP demo versions, the comparison I make is with the young Joan Baez, who had just about the purest voice imaginable.

Also, if Arjen Lucassen is planning to wind down Stream of Passion and move on to something new - and that's what I'd expect him to do - I'd like to see Marcela's singing career moving forward, not backwards. So - good idea, but who knows?

As far is I know Arjen Lucassen quit SOP but SOP will continue without him. By the way I was thinking about Marcela also.

Haha qell maybe I'm too optimistic, but still I can't wait to hear new material :D .

I hope that the band won't go back to it's Doom era.... which is stupid to think since they said they won't do metal no more.

I also hope that the new vocalist sounds very different from Anneke.

And garm doing vocals again will be a total PWN.

Hey maybe some guys from Solefald too?!? :D :P

Hmmm.... who'll be the new female vocalist...?

EDIT: Just heard that Marcelo gal, she's awesome! She has the melancholic vibe but she sounds very different from Anneke! I love her!

Heheh you're all trying to steal my brilliant Marcela idea ;)

Anyone familiar with US progressive metal band Aghora? It has an excellent female singer, voice reminiscent of both Marcela and Anneke.

Yep, Diana Serra of Aghora is an excellent vocalist; her MySpace page also has a couple examples of her classical singing, very impressive stuff!

Sure; the first sample on her page is an Aghora song, the other two are classical pieces.

Cheers!
An extremely talented lady indeed, obviously even more so than I thought. Hehe she already has Anneke in her friends list, so she knows about The Gathering.

I think I wish for a male voice, and not a rocker's one, although powerful, but yet emotionnal, with a lot of sincerity and personnality though, and then... hmmm I want a male Anneke
no "belle and the beast"

I think that if a male voice was to be chosen, he would have to have an enooooooooorumous charisma and an extremely high sensibility, i dont want hardcore guys singing emotional songs, doesnt work for me :o

i cant hardly see a male vocalist with the gathering, definitly not as a lead vocalist, you could have conditions, but the voice its just too important, can you imagine the old song sang by a guy? i can, but i dont like the image in my head when i think about it. back up vocals could work, like it has worked in the past (read souvenirs), but lead? it is just to much for me.
