Sure they're moving forward into a new era.
But not having a strong, powerful, female voice to maintain the back catalog of albums would be very disappointing.
I'm not looking for an Anneke clone, but someone who can bring in the new, and do the old songs justice.

I wouldn't mind a guy or a girl, as long as he/she fits in. I'd be quite annoyed if it was someone in another band currently that would leave to join TG. Even though I think Marcela might be a good fit, I'd hate SoP to die because TG recruited Marcela. There are tons of good unemployed singers out there.

Having a guy sing would also get rid of all those stalker-ish freak fanboys.

Regarding live songs, I couldn't care less really... If I go to a show, I wanna hear the new stuff, not old songs, and even less covers. If they didn't play the old stuff anymore, I wouldn't mind, as long as the new stuff rocks. I'd be quite happy if a band played all songs on a new album from A to Z.

My expectations of the new album are as the have always been:

Looking forward to new work from my fav band. TG has been renewing themselves through every album sofar.

Ofcourse I am sad that there will be an end to the Anneke era, but also I am very very curious about 'new' TG songs!

The end of everything is always a new beginning aswel...........

And I am very curious

It would also get rid of the majority of TG fans! (See the "new singers" poll.)

I dont think so. There are many TG fans who are not registered and/or dont post in the official forum.

I'm sure TG will find singer(s) who fits to their new(?) sound! I hope most of the fans will follow them as I do! Let the new TG-Era begin!!!

:D

agree with that.

Even if I'm aware I may not like their new orientation (and I would have felt the same if Anneke hadn't decided to leave the band in August).
a matter of taste...more than just a vocal style* i guess.

*even if, I admit i'm one of these fans whom in 1995 i paid more attention to Anneke's voice than the rest... i learned to appreciate their real music value through their releases.

The Gathering is a chameleon band to me (it expanded my music tastes through their years and albums) and gave me more music satisfaction than I could have expected in the past.
I have no reason to think "negative" for the new line up and music direction.
The members left are still big sound and music maniac too... so i'm convinced in a way it's gonna be really great.

What I wish more to them is they will gain more fans in the future... for their saviour... but also their surviving in those difficult time.

anyway, currently, It's much more exciting for me to wait for this new album... cause it' a new The Gathering album... and also this time, I really dont know what I'll get my hands on.

All 15 votes of them? ;)

There's a few psychos though I wouldn't mind getting away.

currently, I'm not in the mood for TG music.... meaning stuffs particularly with Anneke on the vocals...of course, this will come back in the next hours/days. I dont and never know when... actually and anyway, I cant listen to TG music everyday.
well, just enjoy listening to some other of my fave bands... so great pleasure I would say ....
the more I listen to them, the more I believe there are still/can be really good songs to hear without Anneke voices (even if this music process has nothing to do with TG one)... also in the future... and finally ... the more I have faith in the new TG album in a way. wow, still what an optimistic point. ^

"Apathetic bloody planet - I've no sympathy at all..." (HHGTG.)

I can only extrapolate from the votes received.

I expect an album with great instrumental or semi-istrumental tracks (i.e. Sand&Mercury, where lirics are quite limited) and also some important collaborations (i.e. great to have Vincent of Anathema)

Interesting female voices I would like to see in The Gathering, in addition to Marcela Bovio (already mentioned), are:

Sara Lov (DEVICS) http://www.myspace.com/devics

Blanca Rojas (ILYA from S. Diego) http://www.myspace.com/ilya

I insist... anneke went away... but if someone wants to hear new blds, souvenirs or homes... the anneke's band (with infomercial fragrance name.. :-? ) will be there

TG must return to their roots, maybe not 'always' style (although that would not be bad.. ).. but returning to a style which made big to TG... great guitars, some double kick in drums, as madylion or ntb... most people who loves TG (not just to anneke), says that mandylion is the best TG album.. I'd like to say that new TG album will be the best TG work ever... but in order to get it.. TG must forget their anneke dependence of the last two albums (I'd include bld)... and to be a band again as they were in 90s... that means TG must leave that soft-pop style...... as I said, anneke will continue with that in her new project...

TG got the most high point with anneke.. that's true... but they did their worse albums with her in last years too... so this is an opportunity to appear again.. I know they will... rutten bross. and company know how..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bsu2eoZLR-M

simply awesome.. :o

why anneke.... why you don't like this incredible music and you prefer that flat, boring and too simple pop music... well.. already doesn't make sense to think about it.... :-? :(
