Well...it seems like new TG era is about to begin, and I do hope that it will be successful!
If to remind all the previous albums - each of them is a unique masterpiece, imho, and each one has something peculiar and unusual. No stereotypes. The talent of the musicians is indisputable. :)

Yes, it is so pity that Anneke leaves TG :(
But they made albums before she joined the band, and they are capable to carry on without her.
Even if they create only instrumentals, I'm sure they'll remain one of the best bands, for me in particular.

The new album is gonna be something!
I do hope :)

Though, really, still I can't imagine a male vocalist singing Anneke's songs... %)

^ Yeah that would definetly be something REALLY weird  .

Although the idea of hearing someone like Krystoffer Rygg singing "In Motion #2" as a duet with a girl seems quite exciting *erection*. .

Anyway, it may seem weird now, but I believe that if TG finds a guy/gal with a really good and suitable voice Anneke's songs will be just fine with another voice.

It won't definetly be the same, but remember: "Variety is the spice of life," and TG is a lliving proof of that.

I wonder though, is another singer actually allowed to sing songs composed by Anneke? I mean, due to copyright issues or something...?

Hopefuly the new singer will not be dancing around on stage with the band like some arena rock act from the 80s.

I'd love a 70's flavored album.

I'd prefer 80's style, you know? :P

Lest get funky, tonight!

(That was 80's right?)

:P

I know the album will be great...we're talking about the Gathering here. The only thing that worries me is the voice that will come with that album..I would die to see they've made the same mistake as Nightwish did.I want my favorite songs to be sung great and I want my favorite band to have a suitable new member

the band said already they might not sing that much of the old material anymore, like what happened with songs from Always and Almost a Dance...
Personally, if the new member means a change in direction, I will miss some songs, but I prefer that the band takes that opportunity to make a new start

That is good! I wouldn't like anybody else to try sound like Anneke as she is hard to be matched. Plus, although immitation could be somewhat good, pure creation that comes from within oneself is generaly much better.

I would like something new and prefferably darky, with no Anneke elements. :flower:

And back into the present:
We were asked by ProductieHuis & MusicLab Brabant to write music for a dance ensemble. This cross-over combination of music and dance will be called Arr. 2. More info [Dutch only: http://www.productiehuis.nl/content.asp?path=po2fgfn9]

And yes, we are working on new material. Trust us and don't worry. You will hear new Gathering songs in 2008.

Cheers,
Hans

That is great news. I really didn't expect anything for this year.

It depends on each person's perspective, because IMO Tarja sucks and NW is much better with Annette 8) .

One will always miss songs from the Anneke era, and I think it's pretty obvious that they will play a few at concerts. However, one must continue and move on.

Can't wait to hear the new stuff!!!

anneke was such an amazing singer and so irreplacable that i am almost expecting a male voice in the new material. For example after souvenirs, they kept saying they couldn't top it, so they went in another direction. Apply that on the big scale: they cant top the anneke-era, so perhaps they go a new direction (ie:male voice)?

Well they also said they couldnt top Mandlyion or htmap.. and probably tehy will tell you now they can top home.. just cause they've always wanted to avoid repeating themselves.. well for sure the next album wont be a "pt 2 album" ;)

^ Most certainly :D .

I suggested an album mainly with instrumental tracks and a few invited vocalists (Garm, anyone?). I think that would be a wise choice because we'd get new TG material and the band won't have so much pressure of finding a new singer... .

I've heard a lot of that band but have actually heard little ( ), but I didn't like it much.

Hehehe I don't listen to it everyday (don't want to get bored of it...), but everytime I pick it up I listen to it all day (aka. at least 4 times  ). And I agree, I wouldn't mind HTMAP? 02; however, the band is too good to do that. Still, they can release whatever they want IMO   .

I had a dream about the new album. I was working at a radio station and we got an advance promo copy. The new singer was named Anke and I thought it was strange that it was so similar to Anneke. I also saw the album title but it didn't make sense or I forgot it. I was going to show it to Phil.. then the dream ended, I didn't get to listen. :(

LOL

I have strange dreams. I need to write down the band dreams as soon as I wake. They get lost very fast.

I just stumbled across this post. I'm just wondering how long before we get some solid news about singer or singers. They can just put out a 3 song EP without vocals, for now. That would be nice.
