Looking for new singers

Dear all, The Gathering is currently in search for a male and/or female vocalist. You can send a short bio and 1 or 2 mp3 songs to: audition[AT]gathering[DOT]nl Thanks, on behalf of the Gathering,

Hans Rutten

I agree with Hygeia, moreover I think she could sing and also still play the bass... I know I know... it's just dream :( it seems it will not come true...

Goed luck Frank, Hans, Marjolein and René...

i hesistated about posting in this topic.

I'm not the one to influence, to suggest or judge anything for the band.
i dont want to consider myself as a bandmember because i'm not and moreover i dont know exactly about the new bands intentions (who can? i've never and dont want to)

anyway, The Gathering, just to tell you again you are still amazing to me and noone can predict what you can achieve... noone.
Life, beauty, changes, freedom, inspiration and creativity are your keys and forever parts of you... in your inside.

just to wish you good luck again in your research, you own and free orientation .
no matter what you decide, i'll accept it... respect to you... always. \m/

ps: mmmm. really excited about the new chemistry though ... lol ^^

Just like hoang, I've watched this topic and wondered whether anyone would add to it. We must all have a head full of ideas, suggestions and perhaps concerns, but who are we to voice them?

Hans: Do you want our opinions, or should we just keep very quiet and let the thing unfold by itself?

Hi all,

Of course we keep an eye open. We do have intentions about our new album, as it will be a very important album, but it's too early to speak them out. I answered some questions I got the last week. I will post it soon.

Cheers, Hans

Hans, you wrote The Gathering is looking for male/female vocalists. Does this mean you're not excluding two vocalists at the same time? I recently discovered an UK-based band named Pure Reason Revolution, and they do great things with vocal-harmonies (male and female together).

To get an impression you could check http://www.myspace.com/purereasonrevolution and listen to Bullitts Dominae, for example. If The Gathering can do something like that, it would be great!

Just my two cents. I hope you appreciate the suggestion, whatever you do with it...

It's sad you lost Anneke, I think she was one of the best vocalists you can ever get. She was really part of the 'The Gathering sound'. For me the best albums you made together was everything since if_then_else. But I'm happy you decided to keep on going, and I hope you have enough inspiration to find a honourfull replacement.

It just so happens that I've recently bought Pure Reason Revolution's first album The Dark Third. There's one very Gathering-like moment on it - although I'd have to play the whole thing again to find it. The album was originally released on Sony/BMG, but they later dropped it. Inside Out picked it up and re-released a 2CD "European" edition. The band (now with a slightly different line-up) should be touring with Porcupine Tree at the moment. Very much a progressive band, with a grungy edge.

Well... the only person in my mind is Marcela Bovio, she did a terrific job voicing The Gathering in the tribute party we held last year in Mexico City, shes an awesome singer, a beautiful person, -shes cute as well hahaha-, and she happens to be in NL at the moment !!! hahahahaha.

Anyways, i am confident and SURE that whoever you pick is gonna be one hell of a singer and will have a beautiful soul, as every single member of the gathering has. Love and support always Hans :)

See you in Europe !!!!

A 3rd for Marcela Bovio.
I think she could bring that metal "spark" back into the band.
She is also probably one of the rare singers that can do justice to the Gathering's back catalog....

I was on Stream of Passion site this morning though, there's supposed to be some announcement on dutch radio about them tomorrow morning....I'm assuming they've completed there lineup???

Oh and Hans....one of her favorite bands.... is Rush!

all this stuff reminds me of Maiden and Priest with their attempts to replace their iconic singers 10 years ago. in the first case, they found a different guy with whom they tried to change their style a bit. in the second case, they managed to hire a clone. none of these 2 options proved satisfactory in the long run.

of course I'm not petending it's gonna end up this way but you know what, there must be a third option damnit!

I'd like any Dutch chick, cause it seems they all are amazing singers. As long as it's not one of those opera type singers.

My two favorite singers are from Holland, so maybe there is a third one around for the band. :D
