But I'm very curious about the upcomming DVD; how is the work on the DVD going? Are you happy with the quality of the material you got from the gig in Chile? I mean, saw some snippets on YouTube and the crowd were going apeshit . Looking forward to the result, is it possible there will be a limited package again like with ASR?

We have the final mixes ready. We just wait for the extra footage which will be on the second DVD. And then we will master it. It always takes more time then we expect. But I do have good hope we will sell it via our webshop very soon. At least you can order it, and recieve a copy earlier! Yes, it will also have some lim. packagaes like ASR!

Will Marjolein sing something on the new album?? she's got a very pretty voice

Who knows? Background vocals for sure. If she comes up with ideas it's possible.

That Gathering pic of the very first line up is taken at the Willem 2 in Den Bosch indeed. We went to a gig. Do you know which gig Bart? Candlemass?
It's a very nice pic!! Well, that's how we look liked in 1989. :flower:

During your press conference in Romania, you mentioned several other bands that you like, one of which was The Arcade Fire. So far, I've only seen one of their videos and one TV performance, and I pick up rather mixed signals. However, putting my own thoughts aside, I'm wondering whether you're thinking about (1) increasing the number of band members or (2) diversifying by using more/different instruments or (3) going more acoustic. I can see the violin and perhaps the flute fitting in to my own personal view of The Gathering - but I can't see a role for the hurdy-gurdy! (At the same time, though, there seem to be an increasing number of European bands playing folky stuff and using the hurdy-gurdy - Omnia, Faun, Schandmaul, ...)

ok! how does the audition go so far?

We have recieved 120 demo's already. We are just listening, and listening again. A lot of females, some males. But I heard some very promising voices. I am sure we will work it out. We also starting rehearsing some new songs. It's quite exciting! It feels like we have the freedom to do whatever we want.

Yes, a lot of gathering fans also.

Must be exciting indeed! :green:

Sure this isn't Iron Maiden? From left to right I see Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, Paul Di'Anno and Steve Harris

Hahahaha and here I thought Abbath and me were the only ones who saw the Rene/Dave Murray resemblance :P

As for The Arcade Fire, I love'em but I think they're waaay different from TG. I see what you mean regarding more band members Geoff, but I just don't see it happening... but then again, I'm not in the band ;)

NP: TG - Mandylion

Wow, I used to think that very same thing myself many years ago, back when he didn't wear glasses on stage, & his hair was much longer- at that time I thought the Rutten/Murray resemblence was almost uncanny :P

Is Paul DiAnno looking for a job? :D

We do like Arcade Fire, they inspire, but we will not try to sound like them.
Everybody has their own taste, bla blah for sure,.. but if you say bad words about Arcade Fire I will send the music police for sure! :flower:
I mean, why listening to uninspiring gothic metal if there's such as thing as, ehm, good music! Like Arcade fire! The Neon Bible album is fabulous. If you can write songs like No Cars Go, you deserve a statue as big as the eiffel tower.

The increasing bandmember issue is a good one! Maybe we will need some more people in a live situation. More guitar players? Why not? Violin and flute? Mmm, I don't think so.

Cheers!
Hans

Thank you very much, Hans. Not many bands are nearly as forthcoming with these
things.

I completely understand Anneke's health issues related to traveling; I've had to
deal with some them of it myself. There's really no place like home ;)

Ah those sweet 80's, famous for it's incredible amount of niggling prefab popsongs. In Dutch I would say FLAUWE TRUUUUUUUUT !!! No wonder everyone turned either hard rock or new wave.

Yes, the New Romantics, for example.

Yes, the current mainstream pop is so much different from the 80's ;)

Hans, I remember you and some other band members rather liked dance. Now, in the Musical History project there were already lots of dance influences towards the end of the album, and I wonder: are you interested at all in changing TG's sound more in that direction, or would that be either too big a step or not fitting your ideas for TG?
