Dutch rock band THE GATHERING won two awards at the annual have NightLiveXS Awards held Sunday, February 11, 2007 at Club Paradiso in Amsterdam.

Drummer Hans Rutten provides an update on the awards show and the band's current activities for 2007: "We just won two awards at this year's NightLiveXS awards. We won both the Outstanding Achievement Award and the Best Dutch Live Band Award 2006-2007. This is something great and we had a very nice evening at the show. Go here for more information. Also, some future footage from that show will be posted online soon here. You can view pictures of the band receiving the award and performing live here, here and here.

In other news, we are currently working on a DVD release, which we shall recorded in Santiago, Chile on March 24th, 2007 at the 4,000 capacity theatre Teatro Caupolicán. It will be a heavy, rock orientated DVD called A Noise Severe, a sort of the 'Yang' from A Sound Relief (which was the 'Ying') What a spiritual nonsense!

We will also start working on a new CD this spring and hopefully we will release it somewhere in 2008. We keep on touring and promoting our latest album 'Home' in 2007. We're a busy band!"

The Gathering's latest album, Home, was released in April of 2006 in North America via The End Records.


i am from chile, but i don't live there. and i really wish i could be there for the show, but i have school during that time, and i can't make it. i am sure it's going to be awesome, and i am happy that they decided to record the next dvd in chile. :wink:

That is great news. I can't wait for that one to come out. A sound relief is my favourite dvd at the moment & it certainly will be until April
at least. It is going to have some strong competition then... :D

that's nice.

i'm glad for chilean fans. they deserve as much as any worldwide fan.

hope the gig will be "noisy"

cool... so probably there will be a new album next year.

we just have to be patient now.

Well, there goes my theory that "A Noise Severe" would also be recorded at the Paradiso... Either way, my chances of being there in person are nil. :cry:

Good news on the NightLiveXS awardstoo, but the http://www.fabchannel.com footage of "Alone" was hugely disappointing! Was the sound engineer asleep when Anneke's vocals started or what??!! GAA!!!

The benchmark has been set with "A Sound Relief" - I hope that the Teatro Caupolicán team will beat it! (¡Hola Chile! :))
