The original version of Leaves will always bring a smile to my face & if I am in the right mood it can bring a tear to my eye. This version has pretty much the same effect on me but for VERY different reasons.

I tend to appreciate rearranged and weird covers, but this one is pure disgrace.

I think Kivimetsän Druidi's "Leaves" cover is exellent. You should remember that "to cover" doesn't mean "to copy". And what's the point in trying to copy a perfect song? No-one could do it better than Anneke & co.

When you make a cover of any song, the main point should be that you try to make it sound your own. And that's what Kivimetsän Druidi successfully does. This cover version sounds their own, still honouring the original. And actually Leeni-Maria's voice is awesome! Well done!

However, Turisas' cover of Boney M's "Rasputin" doesn't sound that much of Boney M, but definitely it sounds like Turisas!

Well I totally agree that a cover is not a copy...
And maybe they covered it great to make it fit with their own style, which is then definitely NOT my style of music... and saying it's honouring the original is just your opinion. I say it doesnt do any good to the original...

If you'd like to get my meaning, listen to the Original Black Sun of Dead Can Dance and its cover by Antimatter... Now that's a good example of a cover that works...I could also mention

I listen to this song and the Moonspell one done by Wolf.This are the awful covers i have ever listend.I dont want to listen to the others from the compilation.This two are nought.This is totaly a shame for Century Media to release this peace of crap.

^ Yeah I also thought that in general most of the covers were quite bad actually.

Especially in Finland, you're not a good / succesful band until Eläkeläiset have covered one of your songs.

And to be honest, if I would be a musician, I would die for Eläkeläiset to make a cover of my music... ^^
