I LOVE the artwork for the new album! It's the best since Superheat!

That's definitely true... I've always found it strange for such a sophisticated, cool band. Cover pictures/graphics are another story, but the typeface and logo choices got worse and worse by the album...with "Home", they finally hit the bottom imho. So, hearing you say this really makes me happy. Fingers crossed.

I had actually never thought about this until I read this. It's very interesting, I really like all covers ("Home" might be the worst IMO), but I agree that, for such a great band, the covers could be a lot better.

And I'm glad that apparently is the case :D .

the worst artwork is Always... remix one by foundation 2000. It's horrible lol.

now i'd like to know who worked on the one for The West Pole. How many people? also is it a bandmember or a selected artist... This is very interesting information for the making of this album.

but nevermind if you don't pay attention to this.

Irrelevant in this topic perhaps, but I think the Nighttime Birds artwork is the best. I like the Earth theme that pervades it. But this does open up possible discussion of exactly what "The West Pole" refers to. Will that be revealed in the artwork or the music, or both?

I could ramble on about this: The world divided on a North-South axis / North-South replaces the concept of the Third World / also an East-West axis / West = American imperialism, East = Islam / bit of a reorientation / ??? Who knows? :o

i have no problem what so ever with the gathering artwork, in a objective way i dont think it sucks, im no art expert or anything, but still, i think they have been just alright.

now it has been confirmed that the artwork for the new album has been actualy made?, everyone seems to be confident asking about it.

From humor site Uncyclopedia (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/West):

The most Western point on most standard maps is known as the West pole. If you are going West, and happen to cross the West pole, you will start heading East. This system was put in place by God to stop people abusing the time zones for time travel related purposes.

The main reason of new album's title: the Gathering wants to be a part of history with this album having some hidden clues where to find that West Pole which also brings the evidence that THEY found it first...

You see, people will always remember the conqueror of the South Pole:

The same gonna happen here.

So that would be just to the west of Alaska, where Mr Mercator drew a big line right down the Pacific? I always thought that line was there to stop the Americans from building a bridge across to Russia.

but that's what I understood too... the problem is I'm very interested in this picture too (!!! lol) and whatever which deals with: this is a step in the making of the definite artwork.
some kinda process that is not boring at all.
