The End Records changed the look of every forum they had (said new look is currently hated by me), but they also added new bands.

I noticed that there's also a The Gathering forum, is this even legal? I guess they can do that since The End distributes TG's CDs, but why did they add a new forum?

Bye!

it is a forum that you can discuss the bands that End Records promotes! I dont think it is official!

legal??? come, you're free to start a forum about any topic or create a webpage about almost anything... I just think it's pointless to have many forum or websites about the exact same thing...
if it's about the gathering, then it has to have some specificity that this forum doesnt have.. otherwise it's just double and useless to me...

I run 5 forums dedicated to TG.

I could get 20 years to life.

Well I mentioned "legal" because it's at The End Records, but I guess they can do it since they're the label of the band in the US.

I know, there maybe 40 forums of TG, yet I really only care about this one hehe.

I always wonder about having too many single-band forums. There's the risk that they degenerate into:

"I like Metallica" (or any other band you care to name)
"Yes, I like Metallica too"
"Hey, I like Metallica more than you do"
"Oh no you don't. No one's as big a fan of Metallica as I am"

and so on. Here, I think the balance is about right - plenty of TG topics but some scope to talk more generally. Hopefully every forum is built like that, but I must say that I've grown tired of a few - the offical Nightwish forum, for example.

I haven't yet found a single-band forum on which people are prepared to open up the full dimensions of the possible debate. Fan contributions tend to be just that - you don't get many people who'll actually come along and say "Look, this band is just mediocre. It's tolerable, but there must be 1000 other bands just like it" - or far, far worse. In TG's case, either this means that everything the band do is truly exceptional, or the other people wouldn't be interested in joining or posting anyway - or our old friend PHM is busy elsewhere.

I think that every forum reflects society at its best and its worst: I enjoy reading messages some are interesting, and others really and still bullshits. There is always abusement in a forum, but this is a good tool for socialization. This is exactly the same outside your home but there is more comfort in a forum (to my view).

Cyclingcolours is an "official" forum so it is obvious to check this one at first, no matter the fans (and how big... who cares?) we are. I'm used to post here for so long. I still remember anything since december 2002, althought the first version disppeared.
The english section is so far the one I prefer and I know. I feel sorry for the non speaking english fans... Each room is clear and logical and the general database about the band is more interesting to me... not like in the specific language subforums.

Personally, I don't mind about the existence of more numerous 'unofficial' boards
cuz there may be some exclusivity and unicity in them.
also it gives more chance to discussions, opinion confrontations, experience sharing with other fans around the world (no matter who they are) and so to promote the band for more recognitions

I don't take the time to go and post in more TG forums. This english one is trully enough.
This is a choice... not necessarily yours.

The only feature I miss in here is the ignore list for other posters.
