So this just occurred to me when writing the genre of the "City of Above EP" on iTunes.

Which genre is TG nowadays?

Is it something like Indie-Trip-Rock? Alternative Trip-rock? Alternative Electronic Trip-Rock?

Please help me with this important matter  .

Depends which album / period we're discussing...
The latest album doesn't have much to do with trip, in my opinion, so I'd call the style more of an alternative / indie rock.
The previous albums were more trippy.

I'm happy with the way the band describe themselves on MySpace.

Rock.

Indie's not a genre, it's a label's corporate status.

Yeah I'm obviously talking about the new one.

Indie/Alternative Rock seems accurate.

No, The West Pole sounds to me more Brutal Death Metal oriented ;)

Well, I'd say they're still triprock.

Yeah, Cannibal Corpse was created as a clone of TG.

Well, indeed... TG has always been just ROCK to me, I really dont care about sub-genres, like Billy Joel sung: "It is still rock and roll to me", and a very nice one!! :green:

True. Trip rock would suit How to Measure a Planet?- Souvenirs much better. Home was trippy and ambient. Always-Nighttime Birds was more Alternative/Rock/Goth what have you. However I guess the question was, NOW which genre is TG? I'll have to fully listen and soak all of The West Pole in before I could fully answer that-- but from what I've heard I'd agree with the official TG Myspace: Rock/Alternative/Ambient. TG gets grouped as "goth" a lot even still, solely based on the misconception they are like most female fronted "rock" groups (Within Temptation, Nightwish, Epica, etc.) But they've proven time and time again they exceed that.
