Its a pity and so unnecessary.

For example Duncan Patterson left Anathema and Antimatter (to start his own project Ion) and still collaborates with his old bands every now and then. :)

None of this matters to me. Annie did the right thing for herself and her family it would seem. Congrats to her for that.

Er... to get back to the lame word.. maybe it wasn't well chosen or maybe it was also not well translated!
I don't know the details, but I think when you are not in speaking terms, it's a bit odd to speak about possible collaboration...
If I haven't heard of a friend for a year or two and the last contact I had with that person was not at its best. I wouldn't say I'm ready to make business with that person... I would first see how the human contact goes...

Hello all, Winston here. The guy who did the particular interview with Hans. I was browsing (or cycling) around these pages again (haven't been here for a long time so I had to create a new account I didn't remember my earlier login and such).

I see all the comments (good and bad) on what Hans said during our conversation. Please read ALL the words Hans said about the situation and then form an opinion is all I can say.

I don't think loyalty is questionable at all here. Bitterness maybe but that can be understood given the situation. Hans actual word that was used in Dutch was 'flauw' and translated that into lame. Given the facts that did happen (Anneke díd make the comments she did about working with TG again, very soon after AdA's first album) I felt that "lame" was the best word to use. "dull, stupid, uninspired" wasn't fitting.

Again, please read all of the Anneke passage and don't pick out one word...that's ehm...lame ;)

Hi Winston ( i thought you were in the grave for some decades already, glad to have you back ;))

Honestly I didn't get shocked in anyway and I strongly understand Hans.. After all, the band had thought of giving her times and all she decided to go away... while the opportunity of having both projects in parallel was real... so it's 'strange' that she mentioned stuff like that in interviews...

And actually if it needs to be spoken of Hans loyalty, I think it's smart from him to not get all the dirty laundry being ashed in public... when he says it's between them, it's surely is better that way...

Anneke saying that sounds to me like: "I was in the best band I could ever have, I left them, now I make less interesting music. And they made this incredibly good album, they will have more success than me, maybe I should return, but I don't directly dare to ask, because people would think I'm innit fo da money".....

I don't agree. It's a gesture of friendship to a band that might be feeling a little left behind.

I think a few things gets mixed up here.. I'm not sure but I haven't read in any recent interview Anneke speaking about collaboration with her ex-partners...
But if she still does, so she would do that out of pity according to you?? This is non sense... and actually laughable

Ho and by the way, Hans doesn't even have to be loyal to someone he doesn't consider as a friend no more...

Actually, Hans seemed bitter throughout the entire interview concerning Anneke, not just the "lame" part. I guess he expected her to fail miserably.

The fact that he expresses his zero interest in working with her again doesnt mean that they want her to fail, im sure they just want to be over with the past. Anneke saying she would like to work with the band again just keeps dragging them to the Anneke topic, that era is gone, kaput, everyone should just deal with it and respect the band's desire to move forward and have their own opinion on Anneke's departure.

I adore her voice, the best female singer in the world, but come on, this is like a regular relationship breakup, id fucking hate that my exboyfriend said he is thinking of having something to do with me in the future after he left me for the woman he was cheating on me with hahahaha. It's only logical.

Best,
F.

I think they should lock both "loyalty" threads. Nothing but negativity..

To make it a bit brighter... I like the comparison with the relationship..
But sometimes people says sex with your ex can be a very good thing haha ;) That's where the comparison ends cause a sex intercourse is something way shorter than a musical collaboration...

The problem with avoiding censorship here is that it leaves the way open for us to wallow in as much misery as we like. So, how about it? Shall we call it a day and lock these threads? Somebody set up a poll and we can all vote.
