I posted it on the concert thread... I saw the Prague show yesterday and after that I think Hugo should come back (I told him so after the show and he said he wouldn`t). As I posted before - no offense to Marjolein, but every time I saw them performing with her I thought there was something missing. Not that it was bad, but... I don`t know. But yesterday, the whole chemistry was back. Needless to say Hugo is a way better bass player.

I've seen the first show with Hugo and even though it was nice, and the fact he;s talented, I actually missed the backing vocals... which only Marjolein can do in the band... And maybe Hugo is a better bass player, but musically Marjolein is more complete as far as I can tell

I've been watching some shots in youtube from krakow gig of a few days ago.. and to see Hugo with the band is great.. his return and silje arriving is the best thing for TG,, there's more power, more intensity, and the old and new songs sound pretty well.
I hope Hugo stay with the band... I haven´t anything against marjolein.. but Hugo is part of TG and his presence makes good to the band.

Well, Hugo has left the buidlding. Lein is joining the band again tonight :)
I dont think the chemistry is back because of Hugo, I think it's back cause of Silje ;-) (if you can ever say the chemistry left at some point...)
I've been lucky enough to see the band with both Lein and Hugo, I dont think one is topping the other. They have a bit of different style but both rock the cabash :-)

I don't think same thing about that... they're not a bit different... there's a lot of difference between them... besides that, it seems "lein" ( :) ) just plays when she wants or when she have some time for that, but she doesn't it everytime that TG needs her... there's not much commitment on behalf of her, I'd say... she must have a choice about her own stuff or to be a good TG member... I say that because I still think that they're a profesional musicians... but maybe they don't... who knows  ...

whatever... as I said before, the only certainty for me is that Hugo and Silje make good to TG

Yes Marjolein has a daily job and probably she didnt feel confident to quit for 3 weeks of tour... and she could only get 2 weeks of vacation from her boss... But Frank also has a daily job nowadays... René has a guitar shop (and he's lucky that his partner can manage without him and with an extra person). Hans has 2 small kids and being on tour is probably not as easy for him as it used to be... As far as I know Silje also has a job aside TG...
You have so many bands who struggle nowadays to get a tour going, cause they cannot be full time musicians...
After saying there is no commitment.... that's not true, but if you want to be a full time musician nowadays, you need more than one band to achieve your goals... nowadays you cant commit to one band only unless it's big enough so you can earn your daily bread with it...

I think this is the part I really don't understand. I've seen Hugo play live on a couple of occasions. How can such a good bass player walk away from playing music? You'd think it would be a driving passion in his life. My expectation is that he's still playing bass at home - just not in public.

Sure. But if you give up all the other passions in your life while you're bringing up a family, you might be left with nothing much to do in about 15-20 years when they move out. And when they're young, they go to bed early. And then most of what's on TV is crap.

LOL the TV bit is very true... I dont know... My mum got a conservatory first prize and she could have gone for a pro musician carreer, but instead she chose to have 4 kids and stay at home for us... Now we're grown up she's playing on a semi-pro basis... Maybe Hugo will do that too ;-)

Sadly, as said before, he is completly out of music and has no plans of comming back. If I remember correctly, he actually works in a theater doing some production stuff.

I tried hardly to make him come back to music, but I think I failed, jajajajaja.

But there is no point in having him back if he doesnt want to! It's not sad if he's happy with his life :)
