If there are any fans of the gathering here who are tired of always seeing the tour dates just to find the UK doesn't feature on them, maybe consider "liking" this facebook page. It probably won't make much of a difference, but if we can show that there are people who genuinely want to see them and would support them if they came over they might be inclined to do a gig, or even a tour. I just can't afford to go overseas to see them as much as I would like to, and I am sure many other people are in the same position.

UK market is such a burden for non US/UK bands... I will go like the page even though I'm sure I'll ever go to the UK to see TG ;)

I have 'liked' this. I hope the band will consider playing in the UK soon.

True, it's only an hour away by plane.

Lame excuse, I went from Costa Rica to Europe, and then from the UK to TN just to see Finntroll, Legion of the Damned, Sodom and The Gathering. Not to offend you, but I always find it irritating that Europeans that live in Europe complain about stuff like this. Jeez, at least you have gigs; here we get three per year. That's the weekly average (at least) in Europe/Canada, so I rest my case.

Travelling to a country to see a band costs some pennies indeed, but you should combine it with a good vacation/tourism stuffs and about the sleeping accommodation there are ways to go very cheap:
- crash at another fan's place
- do some research on couchsurfing.org or other equivalent website.

Not everyone is ready to go overseas to see a band, I understand very well.. but on the other hand, when will the Gathering go back to the UK or North America... So maybe worth the cash;)

That's precisely what I always do; I've never travelled just to see a band. I go on vacations, and I make a schedule in which I'd see every possible band during that time. In TG's case, I'd try to combine with a Threshold gig, since they do a lot of gigs in TN.

I always try to crash at a friend's place, did so last time I went to Montréal. It's always nice to hang-out with other metal-heads and stuff, if not you can go to a hostel or the likes.

If I lived in the UK I would have no freaking problem going to Holland!. Hell, I travel 3,000 miles in my own country to see them. You guys in the UK are lucky. Go freaking see them in Holland. Like 10 times!

I haven't really travelled for a gig, but I've made my trip schedule around the gigs at the moment hehe.

It is because of traveling to see The Gathering that I have made some wonderful friends around the world. How many Americans can really say they made friends with Mexicans while vacationing in Helsinki? So, while I agree that there should be some gigs in the UK, just cross the channel already!

I see what everyone is saying. I have travelled to see gigs before, including seeing the gathering. But thats not the point, they should still play the UK.

I wish TG would come to the UK. I know several great venues where the band would go down a storm.
Also, i hate Jools Holland for never asking them to appear on "Later With..." :-|

Well whether you like the guy or not, at least it's a TV program with live music which is too sparse nowadays...

Indeed! I wonder what happened to (at least the Dutch) Top of the Pops?
Usually that was the show before Studio Sport at Sunday at 7, but I haven't seen it for six or seven years or so?
