Some nice history on the band ...

Bidding on a rehearsal tape of the Gathering just ended on Ebay

Is it someone on the forum that got lucky?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GATHERING-PRE-An-Imaginary-Symphony-Rehearsal-1990-Cassette-Tape-Demo-/330826446941#ht_741wt_1165

The original story on Ebay was:

THE GATHERING
REHEARSAL TAPE: 15 JULY 1990 (29 DEGREES CELSIUS)

THE RECORDING:
THIS TAPE WAS RECORDED A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE BAND RECORDED THEIR OFFICIAL 'AN IMAGINARY SYMPHONY' CASSETTE. IT WAS USED TO LET SOME PEOPLE HEAR WHAT THEY WERE DOING AT THE TIME. SINCE I AM FROM THEIR HOMETOWN, I ALSO GOT A COPY OF IT.

THE TAPE INCLUDES FOUR SONGS THAT WERE RE-RECORDED FOR THEIR REHEARSAL-DEMO,
PLUS A SONG THAT WAS NEVER USED OR RELEASED CALLED 'ORGANORAMA'.
THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED VERSION OF THIS SONG!!!!

THIS TAPE:
I RECENTLY SOLD ALL MY DEMO TAPES INCLUDING 'MOONLIGHT ARCHER' AND 'AN IMAGINARY SYMPHONY'. I THREW ALL MY OTHER CASSETTE-TAPES AWAY EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE, BECAUSE
THIS MIGHT VERY WELL BE THE LAST EXISTING COPY OF THIS RECORDING.
I'M PUTTING IT UP FOR AUCTION, SO THESE RECORDINGS WON'T GET LOST.

ON SIDE B THERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL RECORDINGS, WHICH WERE ADDED LATER. ONE IS 'DETHRONED EMPEROR' FROM THE DEMO-SESSION, THE OTHER A LIVE RECORDING OF 'SECOND SUNRISE' FROM DUTCH NATIONAL RADIO.

THE INLAY / SLEEVE:
THE SLEEVE THAT IS INCLUDED IS NOT AN ORIGINAL SLEEVE, THERE REALLY WASN'T ONE.
I MADE THIS ONE MYSELF YEARS LATER.

CONDITION:
I HAVE TESTED THE TAPE, AND IT STILL PLAYS FINE,
HOWEVER I SUGGEST YOU DIGITISE THIS TAPE A.S.A.P. IF YOU HAVE THE EQUIPMENT FOR IT.

Saw this and wanted it, but without actually owning a tape player at the moment, I left it and didn't bid. Especially with a release that looks somewhat sketchy. Trying to get the vinyls I don't already have, and saving to go and see them in Holland is expensive enough!
