In the song Analog Park is the quote:
"the mind is a wonderful thing. I doubt it will ever figure itself out. ========= etc.

Anyone knows where this comes from?

Yep, that's where it came from!

I always kind of assumed it was from some lecture or science film, and never really strived to find out where it came from.
Then about a year ago I was watching the original 1950's version of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers for the first time, and got a little suprise when I heard the police officer trying to console someone who he thinks may be suffering from delusions: "The mind is a strange and wonderful thing, I'm not sure it'll ever be able to figure itself out... everything, from the atom to the Universe, everything except itself."

Except in the movie he says it so quickly that I suspect that this sample was slowed down just a little bit for the album.

It is a trip when you watch a movie and suddenly realize you've discovered a link to a song.

@KJP - Great Link, Thanks!

Does anybody know what says that second voice (left channel), during the interval between "Analog Park" and "Herbal Movements"? I can't understand anything... :(

It's the very same dialogue as the first voice just offset by a long delay, I think...

It's rather a fragment of that dialogue... Two first sentences and little piece of the third one. But I'm not sure if all words are the same... :-?

hi, iám new here.

I'm trying for years to find out who speaks at the end of Analog park. I recognised the words, they are from Alice in Wonderland. It's the moment Alice meets the blue catterpillar.
I asked Frank if he could tell me who is speaking. He told me that he lost the tape and he didn't remember who it was. Only that he bought the tape in Engeland in 1995, he thougth.

So my question for all the British fans: does anyone knows this tape, this voice!?!?!
I have searched the internet and found all sorts of names but none of them seems to be the right one.

Ilse

P.S. hope my English is good enough

The site doesn't work anymore, either. Anybody still knows where it comes from?

Wish I could speak English like the man in that quote... Legendary and laughing-kick-guaranteed in one...!

it is from the film as stated above.

Here is the script of the film.

http://www.script-o-rama.com/movie_scripts/i/invasion-of-the-body-snatchers-1956.html

Quote:
The mind is a strange
and wonderful thing.

I'm not sure it'll ever be able
to figure itself out.

Everything else, maybe--
from the atom to the universe--

everything except itself.

Nevertheless,
I saw Becky's double...
and the body that we saw here...
