Dear all,

Hope you all are doing fine.

Let me state clearly that the three festival gigs we have right now are the last gigs with Anneke. We will not plan a 'farewell Anneke' headline gig, nor tour.
Of course we talked with Anneke about filling up the spaces till august, doing more festivals, maybe a small tour, but she stated clearly these three gigs will be the last gigs together. We have to respect this.

The idea of a one off headline gig doesn't feel right. I personally prefer a sudden stop rather then have such a difficult, dense night.

Greets,
Hans

That is clear, and now I read it, it seems the right thing to do.

See you in Finland!!

Yes I already noticed this similarity (see dutch section of the forum).
And speaking about Fin(n)land. What's the name of the son of Anneke?

I think this location is well choosen. And I understand their reason to do it this way.
Although I (personally, as a fan) would have preferred a gig in their home country. So all the dutch fans would have a possibility to enjoy TG with Anneke on stage one more, and to say thank you for the beautiful years! :flower: Just like the last gig of Hugo.

Thanks for the message, Hans.
I have accepted, unwillingly, the choice of Anneke to want to leave the group. I can't understand the decision to close a wonderful fellowship like yours, with a far and glacial (in all the senses) festival.
It's as want to close a happy marriage with a SMS.
Precise: mine doesn't want to be an egoistic fan's speech, I will follow both your careers, however I dislike seeing ruined the sunset of a beautiful experience.
I'm sorry. :flower:

I can accept but I can't really understand... Anyway, not my choice and thanks for posting, Hans!

No Finland for me - but now I'm sure I'll risk the way to Czech Republic.
And meet you lots there - no matter how.

Thanks for your response, Hans. This makes the Finland decision much easier for us.

Interesting coincidences stated here by surrealm & Martijn!

Oh, what a pity!!!
Last time i saw The Gathering, it was here in Spain, in 2004. I drove 500 km. in my car just to see them.
They were here last year, but i didn´t saw the, because they played 45 min. in a festival, and i didn´t want to pay so much money for this.
I thought too to go to Paradiso in Amsterdam to see them last time, but i couldn´t for work. Now i´m thinking in this once and again.
And right now i find a new work for 3 months and i can´t go to Finland or czech republic.
I wanna see the gathering w/ anneke one last time!

I see it like that in only a way... this phase of TG with Anneke has been my best friend for 10 years (the prior 2 i just loved the band, period), so i feel like its the funeral for my best friend. Of course now i will have 2 very very very good friends, but not the best (does that make sense?) Anyhow, even tho it hurts im really excited for the new stuff they will bring out, im so eager to hear it, im sure it will be awesome. And TG Anneke or no Anneke will always be my fav band. Im confident i will also love Anneke´s work with her new band, after all... her talent is not going anywhere, another band to love.

And yes... see you in Finland (and Czech Rep), Daeron, please work on you know what.

F.
