A 'little' update...
Huidige stemming:happy, but with a flu...

I am back in England after a nice long week in Bergen. Left Holland
for Bergen the day after we played Graspop.
Graspop was so fun! When we arrived the festival Marjolein and I did a
little walk in the festival to check out the tent we were playing (and
I hoped to get a glimpse of Taake playing the same tent, friends from
Bergen. I just missed them, but meet them right after being so lucky
to get a sweaty corps painted hug of V'gandr..Thanks!!). I never played
for so many people before, so I thought it would be smart to check out
the 'circumstances' before standing on stage and get it in the face;-)
Octavia did some big venues supporting Cradle of Filth years ago, and
it was as expected; the same feeling, just very very fun! So my third
gig with TG was in front of thousands of people, and I was only
enjoying it! I felt so lucky and honoured to be part of it all!:-)
The crowd was great! Even though I guess we were the only band not
playing the double bass on the whole festival the crowd was amazing to
look out at, and I even spotted people singing a long on the new
songs, very touching! It was also very nice to meet people during the
signing session afterwards! Some of you might noticed that we had some
champagne in the signing session. I have to tell you that we made some
jokes about me being the diva (which I want to point out I am very far
from!) when I joined the band. They asked me if I needed anything
particular on the rider for the shows, and I said I always had fresh
cut flowers and champagne (it was a joke of course, even though I do
like both;-). And guess what! On each of the three first gigs the guys
made sure there were both fresh flowers AND champagne! I wonder if
this will continue..
There was one peculiar thing happening during the show though, and
that was when the guys playing the stage behind us started sound
checking the drums DURING our show and I noticed René suddenly walking
off stage. I was thinking 'what the f***?’ and then he was back as if
nothing happened, picking up his guitar and continued playing. Later he
told me he went to the other stage shouting to the guy behind the drum
kit: 'Hey, I am playing a gig here, would you mind shut up?'. I was
laughing my head off!
There are some pics from Graspop at the media section on
www.gathering.nlWe got to watch a bit of Heaven and Hell (man, what a bunch of
legends!!) before we headed back to Nijmegen. On the way back we heard
the sad story that the house and studio of our sound engineer was on
fire so he had to rush back. Such a sad sad thing! Best wishes to him
for the restorations!! x
Anyway, that night I had a few beers (and the champagne of course!),
went to bed for three hours sleep, woke at 5:45 and had to run under
the sun rise to the train station to get to Schiphol. Felt rather
dizzy that morning...
. Had to go via Copenhagen to Bergen, and
there I met up with my mum who had some nice food prepared, got one
hour sleep and then out to meet Tone and Gyri (from Octavia). We
thought we should celebrate our selves a bit; Tone just got a new job,
Gyri survived her first gigs with her new band Tristania and me for
surviving mine with TG. It was so good to see them again, and we had a
great time on nice rosé and white wine!
Bergen has been sooo pretty now in the amazing weather (as Bergen is
well famous for its rain) and it was reaching pretty high
temperatures..too much for some of us vikings (not me though;-). So
after one long week with lots of family and ‘old’ friends time, I went
back to England and my boyfriend (:-D) yesterday, but also with a flu.
Not very fun travelling with a flu bashing around in your body:-/
Feeling a bit better today, but taking it very easy. Chatted with René
yesterday, and it turned out he was also fighting a flu and 39
degrees!
Well, well, that was one long story…
Hope you are all enjoying life. Next week it is back to Holland and
then Cologne for Amphi festival. I can’t wait to go back to that city
as I was there in 2003 for a few days. Good memories;-)
See you soon!
Love (and a little sneeze) from
Silje
