hi, here is a translation of the review
"HTMAP ? is the fifth The Gathering album. Made up 2 Cd, this album, released in 1998, is one of the best band album. Always innovating some new sounding, rythms and atmospheres, The Gathering gives us 14 peculiar elegant tracks
Influenced by Pink Floyd, René Rutten (
on the guitars!!!! ... mistake man) creates some new aerial sounding with his instrument. The atmosphere, which reigns in this album really makes you fly and drives us to another planet . both heavy guitar and serenity are predominating in the LP. Actually, after Nighttime Birds and If Then Else, were expecting for a heavier style. However, it doesnt matter if this album wasnt so welcome in the Netherlands when it came out cause it allowed the band to launch a music carreer in the over Atlantic. Well, the register changes : it’s a mixed of “dark/trip/hop/atmospheric/ experimental/pop”. In a way, some aerial metal music surrounded by new electronics sounds with a pop lightness.
About the songs, there are some nice and dizzy ballads such as “My Electricity”, “Marooned”, “Rescue Me”. particularly, the weird track called “The Big Sleep” which dares to take us away thanx to its dreamy sounding... or the opening song Frail, which gently introduces you the album. Also, there are some rockier and alternating tracks… noticing the « Liberty Bell” hit, “Great Ocean Road” song, the 50’s “Probably Built in the Fifties”, even the wonderful “Travel” which takes you off. “Locked Away” song is special too, only with the guitar flow. Two instrumental tracks are also included in the set: « South American Ghost Ride » and « How to Measure a Planet ? (a 28 minutes track)... a true escape through space.
As a conclusion, HTMAP ? won’t make you speechless. The music really take you to another universe. one the masterpieces performed by the band "

Thank you!
it was a bit difficult to translate this review. quite frankly, the ideas or meaning of some words/ expression are sometimes messy and redundant.
anyway it's a good review. but i think it's not personal enough.
