Hi all, good people, here is an italian newbie TG fan. Very happy to see such a beautiful community, including band members :D (All the best with your family, Anneke!!)

A brief presentation: I discovered Gathering last year, with a friend of mine saying me to listen to an album called "Nighttime Birds" from The Gathering. I heard about that group, though I never had a chance to listen to them. Well, gotta say, I liked it, anyway speaking personally, that was not a must have (though female voice was ... mmhh ... angelic :surprised: ). So quitted a while with TG, until ..... mhh I "got" HTMAP? (title attracted me a lot). Well, what can I say .... at second listen I erased the "proof of misdeed" (:P) and thinked:"Man, this music is a way lot worth every single cent needed to got it!!". Totally felt in love with that album. A rapid search on eBay to buy it and meanwhile picked up Mandylion, too..... I love that too, htmap? remaining my favourite.

So to our days, as you see I gotta get much stuff of The Gathering yet, I like tasting things SLOWLY (my wallet like it, too :P)

Greetings everybody and many thanks to the band members! You got my heartfelt admiration!

Welcome! I discovered them last year, too and today I have all albums. ;) Of course I didn't buy all on one day... I started with Mandylion, later Nightime Birds then HTMAP? and so on. Just in the order they were released. I spend much time with one album before I got the next...slowly...just like you. And it was and still is soo great to see/hear the band evolving.

Thank you all

I agree with you, Snake, issue I like much in TG is the ability to change the way their music sounds without loosing their identity. I gotta say, that's quite an uncommon thing, especially in today's music world (where many good groups tend toward a "crystallization" of their style in the name of market laws). Well, if you ask me to say the name of other "ecleptical" artists like TG, on the spot, comes to my mind a band which "gathered" (:P) again recently after a 20 years rift.... Anyway, we can't compare TG with them or maybe it's just too early... (fingers crossed)

Hi!

I'm Adam. I'm a student living in the UK. Got into the the Gathering by word of mouth (well, electronic mouth - the Internet), they're one of my fav bands as well as Radiohead, Metallica, Nightwish, Muse, David Bowie, Slayer, Led Zeppelin, The Smiths, Kraftwerk, Bjork etc, etc, etc... Unfortunately, Gathering fans are rare where I live so should be good to speak to you guys!

Cheers for now,
Adam

It's the same here... They would have to make Hip-Hop music to get famous here where I live... Bad situation with music here... And no one to share good music with...

The same here where I live. I guess Gathering music is too intellectual or unique for ordinary people. That's why it's special and I'm happy they haven't became a popular and common band.
Cheers
