Hi,
I'm Dan, age 26 and I live in Pennsylvania in the US. I like that 80s pop-rock/metal (Frontiers Records-type) stuff, 90s grunge, late-60s rock, and goth music. (I don't know how anyone here feels about use of that word, to me The Gathering is similar to Tool, which I also consider "goth", along with groups like NIN, Marilyn Manson, Within Temptation, and Lacuna Coil, all great "goth music" to me
~
I found out about The Gathering a while ago by searching on YouTube and watching the live videos, which I prefer over the studio album videos. I did not know however that the singer Anneke had quit the band years beforehand
But I looked up Silje after finding this out, and was surprised to find all the mean comments on these videos. I don't know whether or not this is one of those banned "troll topics" some forums have, but as a "newbie" I can honestly say that I like Silje's voice better than Anneke's. I also looked up Anneke's solo material, it's OK but nowhere near as good as the Gathering.
As I said I prefer live recordings for The Gathering, some bands are like that. I have "A Noise Severe" as well as one of the code-less copies of "A Sound Relief" (I just sent out e-mail according to the instructions in the "Issues" thread). I know there is another Gathering Live DVD, forget the name, but heard it was one of those record-company-forced-it things and wasn't liked by the band. Correct me if I'm wrong? Are there any others, or any others planned with Silje?
I see you allow uploading concert audio/video here, will of course love them all
TTYL, danq
