another one: how about puting Kieslowski's "Three Colors" up there?
yes also great movies
Absolutely - except that I haven't worked out quite how the three movies are connected. I haven't read up on the trilogy and I missed a UK TV programme or two in which Kieslowski was interviewed, so for the moment I'm just left with three fascinating films.
Anyway, I voted for Star Wars IV-VI. Even though I'm a big LOTR fan, and even though Peter Jackson's trilogy hits the mark for me, things do start to drag just a little in the final film - especially the whole "anti-climax leading to Grey Havens" half-hour. OK, so it's reasonably authentic, and I guess Tolkien wrote it into the book to somehow explain why the mythological characters are no longer amongst us, but ... somehow it doesn't quite work for me.
I wouldn't have voted for Star Wars I-III.
