I've seen Avatar 3 days ago. Sotry wise, this is nothing new but the scenario is well done as you never feel the 2h40, it feels like just a moment... So good point about the dramatic tension in the story and how things rebounds, even if it's not always a surprise...
But the images!!! Man the images!!! They're absolutely beautiful!

The Hurt Locker. My favorite film of 2009 so far. I'm still searching for more 2009 films. This one may be nominated for best picture.

Also,

Pontypool

Pretty killer film that shows nothing!

The film is set in a radio station in Pontypool where one day the morning team starts taking reports of extreme, bloody incidents of violence occurring in town. As the story unfolds, the radio staff soon realizes the violence that is ripping society apart is due to a virus being spread through the English language. That in turn poses a problem for a yappy radio jock and his staff holed up in the broadcast booth housed in the basement of the town's abandoned church as a slaughter rages beyond its walls.

I've just seen the Mist by Frank Darabont... and once again I was amazed how this director can adapt a Stephen King story without removing or adding too much to it... It's like those two were meant to be and work together...

CAMINO spanish movie from 2008, it is just being released here in Mexico this weekend. I was at the premiere last night and i must say it is one of the best movies i have seen in the past few years. Im sure you can get it in Blockbuster or Netflix, maybe even download it from the internet with english subs, it's truely worth watching. I fell in love with the story which i find extremely dark, the acting is enormous, and the acting of the little girl as the main character. A must see.

EL SECRETO DE SUS OJOS, argentinian movie, incredible... i loved it, brought me to laughter and the script is brilliant, although this is not a comedy film, its just so well written, and the drama is very well thought MUST SEE!

Still didn't see Camino, Faridee.
I wish they would broadcast it to the place i used to go but no luck this time (will check the following titles too) We have a lot of movies from abroad (worldwide) in here (Lyon is probably not as cultural as the capital but it is smaller so the movies are closer from our home)

By my side, hmm hmm, I saw:

Toy Story 3 by Lee Unkirch

Image

Funny. I didn't decide to see it but hey but I liked it. i 've never ever seen a Toy Story episode from my all life. I know shame on me. Watched it with 3D glasses. So it is entertaining but more special this time
also there are cute characters and nice effects and animations.
I think this movie can touch many people, (not only kids) especially those who had an happy childhood, with toys.

08/10

La Tête en Friche by Jean Becker

Image

Adapted from Marie Sabine Roger book, I love this kind of french movie. very simple but subtile without clichées, with good lyrics and great performances character.
this is some kinda great friendship movie I adore with psychology.
This movie shew me again that when you are so different from someone else, it doesn't mean you can't get on well with. cause in this one, that's the total opposite!!

Copacabana by Marc Fitoussi

Image

Whereas going for Inception, oh gosh, I choose this one. didn't want to remove my brain with confusing stories... I mean life is confusing enough to me... ahaha
As a Isabelle Huppert fan, I loved Copacabana
Simple story but deep thinking and emotions as soon as I you just leave your seat.
without being honey....
I love antihero movies with psychology, don't you?
Isabelle performs Babou, a worried and poor mother (antihero) who need recognition from her daughter again, as this last one is gonna get married in the next days. Through the minutes we realize she stills appears unperfect (selfish, compulsive and violent, bitch make up and looking) but finally she changes her image as a very social, kind and very human person... That will make her more touching at the end of this nice movie. A nice mother portrait.
