Metropolis (1927)

(to think that this movie was created in that day and age...and it to be this great simply amazes me. there are alot of versions of this movie out there, but I guess any version of this is good)

3d part of the Pirates of the Caribbean - well, worth to a try although not the best of the 3. They went for visuals and well, it's great to see thousands of ships - but visuals can't make the empty dialogues better and there are some parts in "neutral gear" especially when Orlando Bloom and Keirah Knightley try to act... Well... I' really hope they won't be pulled back from the end of the world if there will be a next film :D

Anyway, not bad and entertaining, mosty due to Johnny Depp and his "Father", Keath Richards - both rule! Give it a try when you liked the first two films.

lol @ hoang....true, it is an oldie

It's about the poor citizens who live in the underworld and the rich who live above ground....the poor work at times to the death just so the rich can live in comfort. A little more goes on but it would take too long to explain.

I saw Spiderman 2 before yesterday (finally!!!)....
Image
well, it's quite correct as a second part... actually it could have been worse. Not very interested in this kind of movie anymore... as an old comics fan, I find it captivating though (thanx to great FX). About the music, Danny Elfman (for which i like the works) made it. It's not that good and it is conventionnal. Probably you dont need to be a genius to compose some superhero tralala action movie soundtrack. This kind of movies is very good when you dont want to think and just need to escape a moment from your daily life. That was the case. Probably I'm not going to see part 3. Part 2 is enough for me.

5.5/10

lately I saw "Ne Le dis à personne" french movie too. It's by Guillaume Canet.
Image
So there are more things to say about it than Spiderman. At first It's a good and different thriller from what I'm used to watch. Althought I saw much better frenchies ones, lets' say it's different because it's a more sentimental and love one.
The producing is nice, it gets a bunch of great actors I like much and the soundtrack is huge (composed by "M" french artist, however for whom I dont like the songs). Sometimes the music was so good It was impossible for me to get concentrated on the story lol. The weak points are the story is a bit confusing (Probably I lack some details which I didnt pay attention enough because... of the music lol) and the fact most of the actors, even famous and good as they are, dont get an important role in the movie. The producing is nice (great views and pictures) but too much "esthetic".... pity ...
anyway, thanks to François Cluzet for his great performance.
As a conclusion, it is a technical over the average movie but I find it very "commercial" in a way. It's the first Guillaume Canet try as a producer. Already a great one. but as a general movie lover, I'm not that very convinced.

7/10

well, if you liked the fx in that one, you should see the third part: pretty awsome effects for the sandman and all the fighting scenes are ok too

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud

Image

watched it lately at the theater.
So, dont have to go around about the comments, Persepolis is a true masterpiece. That's original animation and one of the most touching ones I’ve ever seen. Adapted from the original Marjane Satrapi comics , most of the universe is remained (a mostly denunciated politics and adult one : Persepolis deals mainly with Islam Republic and Iranian peoples conditions, especially women, in the mid 70-80s... ). The dimension is a bit different from the comics. It’s dark and serious, and esthetically improved from the storyboard (thanx to computer software and movie FX I think). The design seem easy, however this is a such complex artwork in many other points. There are some really funny moments, also some saddest ones... like life. In spite of its main themes, this movie may seduce different people generations I guess...of course, this is only animation, but all looks so real and human. loved so much the atmosphere. Well, no need to blablabla anymore... I recommend it. ^

X men 2

Image

So I was disappointed by this second part... an annoying one I have to say.
the story is so poor in comparison with the comics... There are too much Marvel characters anyway.... so it's such a big challenge to adapt X men saga for a movie...
at least, there was just more to know about Wolverine's past.

Well, Well, some actions scenes allows not to fall asleep... as there are good fx and nice producing, the main reasons to produce this movie I guess.

Of course It's really silly to do a such comparison. but this movie doesnt make me want to read my old comics again, for which I prefered the atmospheres and felt nostalgic.
However, as for Spiderman 2, I will watch the third part.

4.5/10
