my recomendation: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

a very unique film work. I find this in some movie reviews website:"Andrew Dominik’s The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is a work of the most supreme audacity. A Western with little action, a history lesson without any heroes, and a character study that uses contemplative silence rather than the roar of gunfire, the film is everything I had hoped it to be and more; one of the few movies all year that actually got better as it went along, reducing its 160-minute running time to a mere flash of brilliance.

As a Western it challenges the our need for heroes; as a revisionist fable it dares question the official lies that permeate our collective memory; and as sheer craft, it seems to reinvent the medium right before our eyes, recreating a new and believable world almost without parallel."

I know, everyone says it's boring, but that is what this movie is really all about, is about silence... is like a backward western :P

Death Note

Image

saw this one yesterday... I didn't read the manga but I admit it's good movie.
Spent some nice moment.
It is not as joyful as some Battle Royale or Oldboy (let's not compare them), but it was really cool.
With 200% japanese mimicking (lol), esthetic view, it's a very thrilling and entertaining movie.
well I guess I will check the second part (Death Note the Last name)

The soundtrack is ok: composed by Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell) and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers (one song only).

6,5/10

Joaquin Phoenix
Jennifer Connelly
Mark Ruffalo

Great acting. Parents lose a child to a hit and run accident. Trying to deal with it.

La môme by Olivier Dahan

adapted from Edith Piaf singer story, I finally saw it.
So I loved it. Touching and strong movie. it features some great technicity camera view. Marion Cotillard gave me the creep as her performance is so convincing. I'm happy i saw it.

It is my favorite horror film of 2007. I loved the book. The movie does it justice and doesn't f*ck it up at the end. Great character driven horror with some freaky creatures. Low budget FX for the most part. Great theater going experience. Nice to see with a big audience. Easily one of my top 5 favorite film endings of all time.

Saw this one last week.
Great film, great ending.

For those who likes horror movies, and to be a little scared, I recommend [REC]
But the spanish original version, not the US remake "Quarantine".

Severance 2006 (UK)

I am mostly NOT a fan of Horror-Comedy. I like a few, and this one really was enjoyable. It has some really good horror and really funny parts.
I have seen this one a few times in the last week. :)

"A team-building weekend in the mountains of Eastern Europe goes horribly wrong for the sales division of the multi-national weapons company Palisade Defence when they become the victims of a group of crazed killers who will stop at nothing to see them dead"

so there was no .Rec or the Mist at theater....

saw...

Funny games US by Michael Haneke

Image

You really like being frightened, then I recommend you this one.
This is not a horror movie but it's heavy and scary as hell.
Funny games US is a remake thriller by Michael Haneke producer himself. The original title is just "Funny games". I don't pay attention to remakes but this one really worths it.
As a psychologist, this movie is the scariest one Haneke did... not funny at all. I didn't feel well at the end and also, the atmosphere is so disturbing i think I won't watch it twice. brrr...

well I warn you.

ps: not to read the summary of the story before watching it.

Highly recommended, especially if british sense of humour is your cup of (5 o' clock) tea. But the movie is not so funny as it might show in the beginning. The starring trio delivers really good acting. Bruges looks very beautiful and worth visiting, by the way :D

A Horror/thriller/slasher movie. This is definitely not a movie for the casual horror fan. This is the most disturbing film I have ever seen. I'm not sure if I would call it specially scary, but it is so "raw" and cruel it's sometimes unbearable. If you thought Haute Tension or, to a lesser extent, Hostel were too much, don't even get near this film. Only for those hardcore fans with a strong stomach. It does have a couple of issues here and there, but if this movie doesn't leave you in fetal position shivering in a corner, then you are the ultimate horror fan! :P
Or maybe I am just a wuss :P

I saw this one last week... I had to close my eyes twice! I like horror movies, but this one is really cruel. The simple scene with the cat made my stomach crumble!
