I've just watched yet another of those long TV programmes that list viewers' choices for the 100 best albums ever, this time on UK's Channel 4. We get far too many of these fairly tedious long programmes ...

Anyway, this was an interesting selection. Of course, some of the old favourites made it into the top 20 or 30, and there were a few Beatles albums, a mention of Madonna, and all the stuff you usually expect, but the viewers' choice for the number 1 album this time around was Radiohead's OK Computer.

Now, isn't that a fundamentally sound choice for a change?

How curious! Does this means that viewers are acquiring a fine musical taste? It's not normal! (Ok, ok, I'm being cruel, I know 8) )

Could someone post the actual list, at lest Ok Computer seems like a good choice, although I prefer The Bends.

Cheers

You can see the full listing here: http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/G/greatest/albums/results.html

Watch out: Frank Sinatra gets a mention!

the results don't surprise me ... they would have better change their title into " the 100 music best sellers"... it would have been more significant

I think Tool should definitely be at least mentioned, specially for Lateralus... one of the best albums i've ever heard. :D

It's surprising to me, that album wouldn't even be in my Top 1000. I can't stand to listen to that irritating voice of him for more than 1 song per day
I think the album was plugged by somebody to get it up the charts because in the 'normal' world of Top 100 lists, this would not be that high. I've seen the same thing happen in the Netherlands for the Top 100 singles of All Time somewhere in the late 90's. A deejay was plugging One by Metallica and sure enough, it was in first place that year while 90% of the normal voters never even heard the song but by pluggung it massively, it also got metalheads to vote and therefor reach the no1 spot.

But on the other hand, it's always nice to see more uncommon names at these lists so people get to know more then Beatles, Micheal Jackson and Pink Floyd.
