do you lecture the barman in the pub as well when he asks you 'what do you want to drink'?

No, I just say "Guinness". It's pretty universal.

I'm with you there. Murphy's is great, although I'm not sure that I prefer it over a Guinness "Draught."

Y'all mean the stout or the reds?

This is my fav: the stout, the special export. Beats draught, methinks.

I guess the varieties and names might vary from region to region.

"Guinness Draught" (U.S) is just the canned/bottled version of what is traditionally referred to as Guinness Stout from what I gather.

The bottle in that image you provided looks a lot like the variety they market here in the U.S as Guinness Extra Stout. It's a great beer, but very potent. It looks a lot like coffee when poured into a glass. It's truly for the hardcore beer drinkers.

The "Draught" that I refer to is basically the closest thing one can get to Guinness Stout on tap. It's got the nitrogen capsule in it that helps provide the frothy head you would expect to see from a slowly poured Guinness in a pub.

Anyway, here's what the label looks like, and usually the variety I go for when buying it at the store:

Yup, I know the cans and had Guinness in a pub, the latter being a bit better, but none beats the Special Export for me.

Here's some info on why it's 'Special Export' and why it has 8% instead of 5%.

Quote:
GUINNESS® Foreign Extra Stout captures our gift to the world: deep, rich and powerful beer.

Originally brewed in Dublin and first exported in 1802 it’s been brewed locally throughout Asia, Africa and the Caribbean since the 1960s. Here, it’s the undisputed GUINNESS® beer of choice.

Meet our foreign power. Today, GUINNESS® Foreign Extra Stout is a GUINNESS® world-beater… 40% of the world’s GUINNESS® Beer is a little foreign and has a little extra.

Extra Stout: Export Class
GUINNESS® Foreign Extra Beer is brewed with extra hops to give it distinctive character and extra shelf-life in warmer climates. It’s an export-class beer for countries with a taste for strength. Experience it as it was meant to be enjoyed; in a glass or ’as it comes’, straight from the bottle.

I wasn't necessarily dishing on Europe in general. It was primarily aimed towards France.

And you'll be happy to know that I drive a Saab 9-3 (seriously) :green:

Great!
I drive an Alfa Romeo (seriously, too).

That just shows me your level of intellect. You obviously don't know what the hell a Saab is or how it relates to you.

Oh well, at least mine is a 2003, which was basically built by GM (aka Americans).

WOW, I'm really impressed!!!!! Nice to meet you too, Mr Intellectual *bowing to his heinass*
Oh, btw. Have you ever been to Trollhättan? A beautyful place, don't you think?
