Misuse were the support act of Mogwai in Thessaloniki and Athens a few days ago.
Great post band with a bit of heavy rock and 70's rock.

Apart from the obvious - you could check out below.

Menomena (I Am the Fun Blame Monster! - album 2004)

Martha Wainwright - some of her tracks are quite good, some not so good though - very expressionate vocalist (I Know Youre Married But Ive Got Feelings Too - album 2008)

Anna Ternheim - Leaving On A Mayday (2008)

Autolux (Future Perfect - album 2004)

Abigail's Ghost (Selling Insincerity album 2007) - very Porcupine Tree-ish in 2000's

Demians (2008)

Riverside / Lunatic Soul (2008)

Alias Eye - A Different Point of You (2003)

Dark Suns - Swanlike 2001 / Existance 2005

Battles - Mirrored 2007 (not sure about the sampled vocals though)

Saros from San Francisco.
They just put out their second album "Acrid Plains". It might end up being my favorite release of 2009. Although, I await another release next month. :green:

Saros has a female singer who mostly does growls, but does have some clean on this record. She also plays guitar very well. Two guitar players, bass, and drums. They are all very good musicians. What they have added on their second album, that they did not have on their first release The Five Pointed Tongue. Is, atmosphere! I'd describe them as somewhat progressive, a little doomy, and thrashy at times. They are not a 4 or 5 minute song type of band, either.

On their mspace "Reversion" is the only song off the new album. I really enjoy the first album, as well. F Sub Zero is my favorite song from that release. It's on their myspace page right now.

I have recorded their entire set at their record release show and put it on youtube.

This is the title track off the new album Acrid Plains.

Mägo De Oz -- Folk/power metal band out of Spain.

Hasta que el cuerpo aguante
La costa del silencio
El Santo Grial
Satania

And while I'm at it, I also recommend Café Tacuba (an experimental rock band out of Mexico, although they do cover a wide variety of styles such as Norteño, Hip hop and industrial metal)

Café Tacuba

For fans of darker music (this is almost Dark Ambient in nature, although I'd say it's too rhythmic to be Ambient):
Mono Atro

Definitely Archive...
I discovered the band with Again, opening song of You Look All the Same To Me. And I was instantly seduced. With the other epic piece Finding It So Hard, both songs fill have of the length of the album and only for those two tracks, the album is worth buying.
I'm listening to their last effort now, Controlling Crowds, which seems very promising :)

Archive is the only other band that I label Trip Rock :green:

Windham Hell
It's sort of like something Yngwie Malmsteen would play if he played something darker and at times atmospheric, although it doesn't have his level of cheese.
