"props" to Moonspell...

...for continuing to stay heavy over the years while so many bands of this nature have evolved into "Pussy-Rock". I don't really care for their drummer, but I can deal with him.

Oh, I wasn't trying to say anythigng bad at all. I just got their latest album and I was commenting on how it rocked. I don't mind evolution of bands at all, and I enjoy a lot of "PussyRock" music, but it's good that some of the bands I like don't change as well.

You should get more into black metal. Only on very rare occasions do you have to worry about those bands changing.

Actually my feelings towards Moonspell are exactly the opposite.
They indeed started the typical "goth metal band" evolution, that brought them to a masterpiece like Sin/Pecado (which is quite far from the metal stuff they're re-doing today). But then without any artistic (credible) reason, they went back to a harder sound, which I personally find anonymous and uninteresting

I'd second Herr Dica... Irreligious is a nice album that revealed the band but it's aging badly...
Sin is just so fantastic... that ... Just get that album!!
Butterfly FX is fantastic too despite the fact that it divided the fans...
I'm not pro or con evolution but I just think if you have the chance to release albums you should have an identity.. Something Moonspell has lost a bit in my eyes...
but to finish with The Antidote, at least it's better than its predecessor  but it has the 'modern music syndrom' which consists in putting 3 of the best songs in the beginning... the rest doesn't follow all the time with quality...

I've seen them play live last december, it was massive! But the best song they played was (IMO) Opium, and of course that's sad, cause that's song is about 10years old :S

I agree. I think the first four songs outperform the rest of the album by far. Too bad. :( But they were so great live! Still one of my favorite bands, moonspell. 8)

moonspell has always been a second class metal band. i mean, compared to lets say paradise lost or anathema (even if im not that big into paradise lost), they sound really poor like. 'sin/pecado' and 'irreligious' have their good moments tho.

I guess I'm not really a moonspell album listener.
But songs like 'vampiria', 'fullmoon madness', 'awake' and 'in and above men' for example, I can listen to all the time without getting fed up with them.

I like Wolfheart more than Sin/Pecado and Irreligious. I have just listened the new album once and only some tracks from the rest. I really want to buy the CDs, but it's gonna take soem time...

My favourite song is "An erotic alchemy" and after that is "Vampiria" and then the rest of the "Wolfheart"...opium is really great and also "Raven claws" is cool!!!

From Sin/Pecado I lke "2econd skin" and "Let the children cum to me..."

Agreed on the fact Sin/Pecado was their top album.. and followed by Butterfly FX.. Irreligious is aging so bad.. it's a pity cause some songs (Poisoned Gift or Mephisto) are really cool!

Wolfheart is a joke imo.. the songs of that albums have been recorded far too slowly (See the difference between alma matter studio and live, one is deffo far better than the other! ;))

Haha..interesting point of view Burn! I used to listen to Wolfheart when I got up in the morning while getting ready to go to school. It didn't seem to be very slow, but now that you say it, perhaps some songs would sound better if they where faster, but I like them as they are already!!! The atmosphere is pretty dark and I LOVE IT!!!!
