Thanx eveyone.
Does anyone know any good female led acoustic music?

Try Cocteau Twins, it's very moody. Do you know the girl who's singing Massive Attack's "Teardrop"? She's the singer... :D

Other girls who sing fine - IMO:
TORIIIIIIIIIII
Yep, Dolores
I hope, Lee Douglas will sing again on next Anathema album a lot

Those are the special ones.

Fully seconded! "Contentum", "Terrestrials" and "Orgasm" feature probably the most original female vocals on a metal album so far. Lyrics, cover artwork and the music are also very special.

As I only noticed yesterday, the official Atrox-website is back again with a new URL. Anyone interested can download 2 mp3s from each of the aforementioned albums here. If you click on the switch in the upper right corner, you´ll see a picture of the current line-up (now they´ve got a male vocalist) and you can also download a song of the new line-up. The music is still metal and the new vocalist isn´t bad, but he comes - of course - nowhere close to the original style of Monika Edvardsen.

np: Tactile Gemma - "Come Eclipse"

I downloaded a Gretchen tune but I don't think it is the same one because it doesn't sound... well, the chorus repeats "conga, conga, conga. conga, conga, conga. conga la conga. conga conga, conga la conga" :D.

Here's some suggestions: (mostly non-metal but you might like)

Curve: Great hard rock/electronic act with female vocals

Republica: Rock/electronic outfit from the mid-late 90's. Had a few hits like "Ready to Go" and "Drop dead gorgeous" off the "Scream" soundtrack.

The Birthday Massacre: Melodic industrial rock in the vein of Curve. Fun, catchy tunes.

Nebelhexe: The more guitar driven project of Andrea Haugen (Hagalaz Runedance) Has a metal vein to it but I wouldn't necessarily call it a metal project. Good stuff nonetheless.

Mirazma: Picked up a promo of this when I saw Antimatter in the states. Downtempo electronic music with trip hop/dance influences. Includes a track with Danny from Anathema on guitars!

The Dreamside: Rockin' ethereal goth band from the Netherlands.

Star of Ash: Wife of Isahn from Emperor, she's a magnificent artist in her own right. Dark, trippy electronics and piano with guitars.

Dargaard: Male/female keyboard driven music focusing on darkwave, neo-classical elements. Even if you don't like gothic music, the female vocals are really amazing.

Ataraxia: EXCELLENT band from Italy. Many different influences including traditional Italian and Spanish music, mediaval, baroque, and gothic. The vocals can be operatic at times but nothing to discourage the listener from the beauty of the music.

Estampie: Medieval style music with members of Qntal.

Violet Indiana: Dreamy, shoegazer style music with the singer from Mono and the guitarist from The Cocteau Twins.

Vas: Dead can dance influenced focusing more on the middle eastern influences

Rachel Goswell: singer from Slowdive. More acoustic than her former band.

Mira: I second this recommendation from Hoang. Their first album includes a song written with members of the band "My bloody valentine"

Ego likeness: Dark trip hop for fans of Portishead and massive attack

Whew. Didn't expect the list to get this long. Sorry about that. I hope you find some of this interesting. I might find some time to put links up but you shouldn't have any problem finding these bands with a search engine. :flower:

Silentium(or Silentivm) is a Finnish metal band with female vocals. Some kind of goth metal, I think. Their earlier albums were often compared to My Dying Bride, but IMO they sound unique. Check out their latest album, Seducia.

And hailing from Finland as well: Evilion
They have not just one but two excellent female singers. Great band. And their first album is available for download at their site for free.

I want to know of female-fronted with bands with or without male vocals. preferably without. If there are male vocals I would prefer if they weren't harsh. Also, I want something along the lines of The Gathering, Flowing Tears, Lacuna Coil, etc. More of their kinda singing instead of opera. Well-known or not well-known bands(all countries too!!) are welcome. I'm trying to build a collection 8) .

Female-fronted bands in my collection:
The Gathering (of course)
Nightwish (a bit operatic, but I like them)
Within Temptation
Evanescence
Lacuna Coil (borderline harsh male vocals - not my favourite)
Collide
Octavia Sperati (just ordered the CD)
Midnattsol (will order the CD if I can't find it locally)

I prefer bands with only female vocals, mostly because bands that try to add male vocals to the mix do so badly (Nightwish is an exception.) I particularly loathe the stupid "cookie monster" grunts etc. - it spoils many of the bands I've listened to that I would otherwise have liked e.g. Leaves' Eyes.[/u]

I don't recall having her mentioned here, so I would like your opinion on Norwegian singer Christine Guldbrandsen. I heard her Eurovision song and I wanted to search for more, but unfortunately I cannot find any info on buying her CDs or listening to some songs (apart from Surfing In The Air video which I liked very much too!).
