Amongst other genres, I'm into metal - and into the growling crap!!! 8) But some of my favourite bands came from that old death-doom-gothic-atmospheric sub-genre: Paradise Lost, The Gathering, My Dying Bride, Anathema and so on...

I love the sort of stuff that is one of a kind and that sounds beautiful
(of course the last one is most important). I love some of the "growling crap". Cradle of Filth and Opera IX are the black metal bands I love the most. I also love Gothic Metal like The Gathering, Lacuna Coil, Flowing Tears, Lacrimosa, etc.; almost anything with female vocals and at least clean male vocals or tolerable harsh vocals  . Operatic/symphonic music like Therion. Non-metal bands like Tori Amos, Hooverphonic, Garbage,Letters to Cleo and even instrumental/classical music like Vanessa Mae, Bond, Mediaeval Baebes, Miranda Sex Garden and Charlotte Church :) .

ahm :-?
well, do you know that bands from the 80's, who were punks old school but later they play with a sound a little bit more gothic or dark...?
That's is like the death rock is, more or less.
Bands like siouxie and the banshees, she looks very punk and her music is like punk but gothic :P ...something like that.
They are the real gothics classics, the pionners.
This style is the goth pionner, with the gothabilly (goth + rockabilly), batcave, post punk and things like that.
