Hello all, especially you Opethians

Opeth has been absolutely fantastic yesterday in Stuttgart (Die Röhre), even better than in Cologne last September and they changed their set-list from 60% at least!
Sold out venue, great sound, interractive audience thanks to Mr. Akerfeldt's liveliness and being very talkative.
As an example, during the encore, he proposed us a Metal Quiz :green:
about german's band Accept and the final question was very prickly and funny:
What does mean the title of the album "Balls to the Walls"?
...general LOL, never mind the bollocks

Perfect Set-list, particularly energic metal, with only one excerpt from the laid-back "Damnation" album.
To my taste, I would say that only "The drapery falls" from Blackwater Park" was missing...
In this running order I believe:

1. Ghost of Perdition (Ghost Reveries= GR)
2. When (My Arms, your hearse)
3. White Cluster (Still Life)
4. Closure (Damnation)
5. Bleak (Blackwater Park)
6. The Baying Of the Hounds (GR)
7. Under the weeping moon (Orchid)
8. The Grant Conjuration (GR)
9. A Fair Judgement (Deliverance)
---------------------------
10. Deliverance (Same)

More than 2 hours of evil tripping metal :tw:
Bravo OPETH !!

Vince

Question was about: do you want to know about a setlist of a gig you missed - or not. Because I don't really like to know what I missed.
Btw setlist was the same by us. BLEAAAAAAKKKK 8) :o 8) :o

It's everywhere, but by us we had the 3 questions about Led Zeppelin.

1) What was the name of LZ's singer? (easy one)
2) Where did they record XXX album? (I don't remember the name of it, but they recorded it in Stockholm)
3) There was a hotel story with them. They had several whores and with one of the girls it happened. The drummer got a fish and they putted it in that woman's vagina.
Question: what kind of fish it was?

( it was NOT a shark although the story goes so...but Mike knew it because he is the ultimate fountain of Metal Wisdom...a red snapper :green: )

Mike rules...the only thing I ws sorry about that Lopez is still ill. :(

I'm going to the USA on the 16th Feb to see Opeth, Devin Townsend, and Dark Traquility on tour. I adore Opeth, but this will actually be the first time i've bothered to see them live before. I can't wait...!! :green:

Check this thing. A Hungarian guy playing Opeth on the piano.
Sounds interesting - but great!

A very sudden and surprising information... :(

BREAKING NEWS! OPETH AND PETER LINDGREN PART WAYS

Peter Lindgren has stepped down from his guitar wielding duties after 16 years in Opeth. Below is an open letter from Peter addressing the issue:

"It is with sadness I announce that Opeth and I are going separate ways after almost 16 years. The decision has been the toughest I've ever made but it is the right one to make at this point in my life.

The reason behind this is that I feel that I simply have lost some of the enthusiasm and inspiration needed to participate in a band that has grown from a few guys playing the music we love to a world-wide industry. The love of music has always been, and still is, our motive, but I personally have lost something along the way. The massive amount of touring has taken its toll. Opeth has worked extremely hard to get where we are right now and in order to persist and maintain the quality of the music, it is necessary that we continue to work hard and always stay focused. But in doing so, it means that we nowadays spend 18 or 19 months on the road and I don't feel the same enthusiasm for the upcoming world tour that I have felt earlier. I have come to a point where I realize I won't be able to give the band 100%, and from both sides this will not be good enough for what Opeth stands for. I will always love playing, listening to, and living music, but I will do it differently from now on.

These years has easily been the best of my life and I will always cherish the memory of what we have experienced together. I would like to thank the band, our management, record label people, all the bands I've made friends with for everything. Most of all, I would like to thank the fans from the depth of my heart for the support throughout the years.

I wish Mikael, Martin, Per and Axe all the best and I am confident they will continue doing the greatest music in the world!! /Peter"

Well, Peter was a true "right-hand" for Mikael, I will miss him very much, and his character fit so good to the band.

:(

From the great 4 there's only Mikael and Mendez in the band left.
Anyway, let's see how they go on. Mikael remains always a big skull in music, I'M not afraid. I've just got used to this 4 guys and now unfamiliar faces etc etc. Even the keys are so "fresh" for me.

That's a big shame - such a great partnership for so long. So, whatever next? Think about Lennon and McCartney: together, excellence, apart - excellence from Lennon, decades of **** from McCartney.
