So, what do you guys think about the new album? Personally I find it incredible, it was well worth the 6 year wait :) am completely and utterly in love with "Universal"...

New album?! I thought it would be released in autumn 2010 or something? Is it already released?
I listen a lot to A Silent Enigma lately, that's a very good album, but I still have to listen the other albums... :)

Well the album is being released this very month, you can preorder it in the minisite
http://www.kscopemusic.com/anathema/wer ... ewerehere/
Kscope is sending a free download if you register to their mailing list ("Thin Air") which is an amazing track btw, I already preordered my CD+vinyl and can't wait for the mailman to arrive with my package hahaha. It has leaked on the internet tho, I tried to wait but it was impossible, 6 years waiting for this baby!!

Okay, I've seen it. I'm downloading it now, and if it's very, very good, I'll see if I can buy it somewhere... :)
Thanks for the information! ;)

Same here. In Germany the album will be released on June 4th. This will be one of the hardest months in my whole life... :green:

I try to resist. I don't want to listen to the album for the first time on my cheap PC-Soundsystem. :green:

I'm trying to hold my horses here, but in all honesty this record is art, there's only one song im not that much convinced of but the rest is just beauty. The music, voice and lyrics melt so gorgeous and harmonically throughout the 10 tracks of the album. I need the vinyl NOW... wow, just fuckin wow.

And you'll succeed in not downloading it for the next two months? :P
I wouldn't... :P I've already downloaded it, I'm going to listen to it this evening. :)
(But I have only heard The Silent Enigma yet, I have got very many 'new' Anathema albums to listen to these days... ;) )

Hahaha, okay, I get it. :P

But, I wonder why almost every TG fan loves Anathema as well. I mean, I have only heard The Silent Enigma so far, and I hear it's got something in common with for instance the Mandylion album. But it is kind of strange that so many people who listen TG listen Anathema as well, isn't it? :)

Because both TG and Anathema are one of the best bands ever. :green: :green:

"We are here because we're here" is gorgeous. Can't stop listening to it. :D
New versions of "Everything" and "A Simple Mistake" are beautiful, "Universal" is just WOW,
"Thin Air" and "Summernight Horizon" also stunning, "Dreaming Light" is one of the best songs I heard ever. :)
"Angels walk among us" new version is quite different, old version was one of my fav songs of Anathema, so I don't
find it weaker just different but still great. Only didn't get into "Get off, get out", it's too weird imho and doesn't fit
the rest of the album.

Everything on album is just superb - music, atmosphere, cover, lyrics (what I can hear for now),
wonderful positive message and actually I find this album really positive and finally understand the meaning of
the name "We're here because we're here" which I found at first silly. :)

All in all - really close to masterpiece. time shall tell if it is.

Same here. :) Probably the best album I heard since I heard Wildhoney some nine months ago... :)

But, the name of the album is derived from a song soldiers sang in WWI in the trenches in Flanders. So either it is very, very positive ("We've got to make something out of it") or very negative (There aren't many positive things about WWI). I'm not sure which one of those explanations they mean with it.
(But, when you think of it, no matter what the title of the album is, when you hear it, you'll be very positive anyhow, so... :P)

Danny Cavanagh and Anneke van Giersbergen will release a live-album with songs from Anathema, The Gathering and Agua de Annique + some coverversions. This album will only be available at two live-shows. Check out the Anathema-news at http://www.anathema.ws/

Damn, I can't go to these shows... :(

Those shows were nine months ago... ;) I could have gone there, I'm from Eindhoven... :) But I didn't even know about TG then, let alone Anathema... But you can download that album, it's called In Parallel. I think it's not that special, though. It's nice, but it's not really special.

Ups, you're right.

I thought they will do another album together. Next time I should check the date. The news-section of Anathema.ws is a little dusty... :green:
