1. Agalloch - Ashes against the Grain (this album is easy to underestimate, takes a lot of listens and then gets better and better)
2. Tenhi - Maaaet (unexpectedly, this Finnish folkish album can best be listened to in summer. It's sometimes a bit too slow but has great melodies and atmosphere)
3. TG - Home
4. OSI - Free
5. Novembre - Materia
6. Axamenta - Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture
7. Summoning - Oath Bound

But... I haven't heard Duncan Patterson's Íon yet. That one might end up rather high on this list.
Next year promises to start with a bang: new Moonsorrow, new Trail of Tears, and a Requiem trilogy by Virgin Black...

1. Madder Mortem - "Desiderata" (That was an easy choice!)
2. Gåte - "Liva"
3. Qntal - "V - Silver Swan"
4. Ava Inferi - "Burdens"
5. Suden Aika - "Unta"
6. The Gathering - "Home"
7. Mari Boine - "Idjagiedas"
8. To-Mera - "Transcendental"

If re-releases also counted, I´d include:
Solitude Aeturnus - "Into The Depths Of Sorrow"
Znowhite - "Act Of God"
Détente - "Recognize No Authority"
Flotsam & Jetsam - "Doomsday For The Deceiver" (20th Anniversary Special Edition)

What!? They've re-released that album? Cool. I have the old cd, but it's nice to know Znowhite hasn't been forgotten. :P

Well...Tool and The Gathering for me, 10.000 Days at Home. With a little disappointment by the new Katatonia, it just came and nothing happened really. Maybe just because of the mood...I coudn't find the mood it requires.
Now listening to Scarsick by PoS. Haven't decided if I like it that much. Not bad but not THAT PoS I expected. IMO. I give it more time.

@Usual Suspect: New OSI??? Damn, I don't follow the news! I have to get it!

Still with Kevin, hopefully :D

And...actually, the most touching record from this year was a 4-song-live record from 4 ppl who used to work together for the albums which made me become their faithful servant forever.
Tracklist:
Breathe
Money
Wish You Were Here
Comfortably Numb

Guess who they are

I don't own the album myself yet, but I've heard it's a real grower. Oh, and can I add the re-release of Brave Murder Day to the list, or is that cheating? ;)

No OSI without Kevin, of course. It's a bit more straightforward and less experimental than their debut album, but I like it a lot. I got it with a bonus disc which doesn't add too much, but is more in their old style.

@Vishnu: I'm really looking forward to Moonsorrow's newest. Only two tracks, should be majestic. But you already own it? What's it like?
Oh, and such a pity that ToT split up, I was going to see them on the 16th of this month, and two weeks before they suddenly decided to call it a day :(

Yes, look here. It´s a remastered version with liner-notes by guitarist Ian Tafoya aka Greg Fulton. Unfortunately, other than on most of the other re-releases of classic underground metal albums, there are no bonus-tracks on this album. Since I only had the vinyl version so far, this was a good opportunity to finally get the CD. (I ordered it from cdon.com in Sweden. It was quite expensive - €19.95 -, but still worth the price.)

Together with Détente´s "Recognize No Authority", "Act Of God" is one of my overall favourite thrash metal albums.

I'd like to add Tenhi's "Airut: Aamujen" to my list. Don't know yet on which place, though.
Great album: gone are the guitars, except for the bass. For the rest there's only piano, drums and soft, deep vocals. This is no neofolk anymore, it's closer to some 19th century classical.

Giant Squid- Metridium Fields
Daylight Dies-Dismantling Devotion
And of course Home.

That's all I can think of right now.

Agalloch - Ashes Against The Grain

Strapping Young Lads - The New Black

I found the new LC album to be too disappointing to make my list.
