about Dark Sanctuary,

i was really disappointed by Exaudi Vocem Meam Part I when it was released... this was boring compared to the previous releases such as "l'Etre Las" or "les Mémoires Blessées": these ones are still great masterpieces to me.

i changed my mind about this album (part I) when i saw the band live this year: the music power and sincerity convinced me
their live performances are always flawless anyway.

but about part EVM part II , i dont like it all... it's closed to Part I... and it's boring... well it is not as good. listening to it i felt like a lack of inspiration from the band... i even decided not to get it (as an old fan)
the only good point is the new "l'autre montre" accoustic version which is quite good... but actually, this album is a failure to me
that's a pity.

well my taste evolve and this is only my opinion cause probably you will like it...

anyway, Dark Sanctuary is still a great band and rules on stage. their songs are poignant and perfect live.

@hoang: My feelings of EVM I are the same as yours, I thought it wasn't as good as their previous work(well, I always thought Vie Ephemere was terrible - still think so). I'm just hoping they find the inspiration again, because - as you said - the earlier work is great. Anyways, I'm still going to get EVM II.

I've forgotten to mention one of the best albums of 2006:
Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea

I believe they will find the music inspiration again (but when?) and yeah "vie ephemere" is a good song... my favourite album is "L'Etre Las-L'Envers du Miroir" and my favourite song is "L'Arrogance". anyway, i wish you to see them live. it's a huuge music experiment... especially at the first time. the songs sounds very differently, particularly the oldest ones such as "Anatheme" or "Cet Enfer au Paradis"... and Dame Pandora's voice is sooooo powerful and poignant. you are right to get EVM II and maybe these songs are bombastic on stage... mmm probably i'll get it but later.

Loreena McKennitt - An Ancient Muse

The only 5 stars album for me this year, ignoring live albums and compilations.

*edit* Add Agalloch. Awesome album that I got to listen after 2006 ;)
