A new Metallica cover song, coming soon!

The lights go down, the last strains of AC/DC fade out and Metallica are about to step foot on stage, but not until "Ecstasy of Gold" plays. The very familiar composition from the classic film "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" has been opening Metallica shows for over two decades, and now the band will honor its composer Ennio Morricone by contributing their recording of the song to a tribute album coming out in the Spring of 2007.
Morricone, the internationally acclaimed composer of over 400 film and television scores, will be celebrating his 78th birthday tomorrow as he prepares to make his on-stage debut in North America at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on February 3, 2007. He will be conducting a 200 piece orchestra and choir performing songs from some of his best known scores. The subsequent tribute album will also feature Andrea Bocelli, Yo-Yo Ma, Bruce Springsteen, and Celine Dion and more.

ACOUSTIC METALLICA

iTunes will release the second volume of acoustic performances from the Bridge School Benefit concerts held annually in the Bay Area on November 21st. And yes, two of the songs are from Metallica! "Fade To Black" and "The Four Horsemen" were recorded at Shoreline Ampitheatre, Mountain View, CA, in October of 1997 when the band performed at the yearly benefit. The only place you will be able to buy these songs is on iTunes! The Bridge School, founded by Neil Young and his wife Pegi, educates children with severe physical and speech impairments. The most recent concert held in October celebrated the 20th anniversary of the musical gathering.
The set released today on iTunes includes music from more than fifty artists - along with Metallica you can find tracks from Bruce Springsteen, Green Day, R.E.M., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, and more. All label proceeds will go to the Bridge School.

Rocker BRUCE DICKINSON has been banned from watching his 16-year-old son's gigs, because he gets put off when he sees his dad in the audience. The IRON MAIDEN frontman has agreed to his son AUSTIN's request, but only because he remembers the embarrassment he felt when his own father used to come and watch him play as a young man. DICkinson says, "He (Austin) said to me, 'I know you want to come but when you do, I panic.' I understand. I don't want to be a stage dad. "I remember my dad coming to one of my first gigs and marching to the front in his suit and putting his elbows on the stage. Embarrassing."

Dickinson's interests include literature, writing, fencing (at which he is considered a world-class expert), train technology and flying Boeing 757 charter jets for the UK charter airline Astraeus where he is employed as a First Officer. He is an accomplished guitarist and drummer. He studied history at Queen Mary College, University of London, and was active in student politics as a member of the Conservative Party; however, he is known to have supported New Labour in recent years, describing the Conservatives as 'dangerous'.

His main interest outside all that is Fencing. He is a skilled fencer and was asked to join the Great Britain Olympic Fencing team for the '92 Olympics.

Dickinson airlifted 200 British citizens who had fled wartorn Beirut, Lebanon back to the UK on July 20, 2006. He picked up the evacuees in Cyprus on a Boeing 757 and flew them back to London's Gatwick Airport.
