Although I wouldn't much care for an album of TG covering rock/metal songs done by other artists, I would LOVE to hear an album of Anneke doing covers of old easy listening/pop standards. Y'know, things that maybe your parents or grandparents enjoyed during their younger years, by performers like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Doris Day, Dean Martin, & so on. I really think she'd do beautiful versions of some classics like Unforgettable, Sentimental Journey, The Very Thought of You, etc.

I have to agree with jstv127. Covering metal/rock songs today doesn't sound as good as it would have sounded 10 years ago. Covering some oldies (and some modern stuff too) would be a lot better idea. Songs like Dream On (Depeche Mode), The Thrill Is Gone (B.B. King), Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin) and so on... these songs would sound amazing *dreaming*

@Cerebus: Maybe you didn't get my point. I'm not comparing Slayer and The Gathering. Hell no! I'm just saying that putting some new material as a bonus (like Slayer did) is a good idea. Plain and simple.

No point in my opinion.. the band is a spring of ideas... I prefer to get original stuffs... I mean the band has to pay for studio and have things properly done.. so if they have to spend money just to get a cover CD that they;re even not sure everyone would buy I dunno...

I voted yes. It would depend on what kind of songs, though. There's are a lot of songs that I could The Gathering remake. I would hope the songs aren't modern. I guess it really wouldn't matter AS LONG AS the remake sounds nothing like the original which, with TG, it shouldn't.

Albums made full of covers often are too dull to listen

I think it would be very interesting to have a covers album. But then, I'm weird. I must be the only person in the world who liked Tori Amos' Strange Little Girls.

i think they dont need to cover songs because their songs are so good
but in another situation they cover the songs even better than the orginal one
