After seeing some of the activity here I'm considering (again) reopening the direct connect hub for TG trading of legal files (non-copyrighted). But this time I want to know what the demand is via a poll before I reopen.

For myself, I'm only interested in bootleg videos. Previously all of the vids traded on my hub were created by me. This takes time and hard drive space (while capping and editing, 2GB for every 10 minutes). Then the time to encode several levels to suit those who do not want the highest quality and large file size. Does anyone else have the capability to cap vids? I love to give, but I'm always looking for new ones. That's the point of trading. I have nothing from souvenirs and little from ITE.

Also there was a bit of a problem in that, aside from 5 or so people that I recognized from the board here (burn, pierluigi, etc) there were people sharing copyrighted material. They get kicked off instantly and told why, BUT it seemed that there was more illegal activity than legal. :( I don't want that. I don't want to be a part of that.

My list of bootleg videos goes back to pre-Anneke. Some are common like the Wheaton, MD show but some are unique like the show from NYC (HTMAP tour).

I perosnally hate video boots for most of the time they're too crappy to be watched... and in the end it's more the sound of those vids that I'm interested in...

keep the responses coming! :)

I don't have a problem if you don't like vids or don't have much to share initially. This will be a success is people reshare what they download, audio or video.

But something like this needs a "critical mass" of participants to really work. That gets diversity and that what keep it a success.

Hi memento

I was one of the few cappers that traded stuff with you there.
I guess with the illegal stuff people were sharing, this time around you could require a username/password to get into the hub.
I like both audio/video, and I also like sharing with other people, as long as others make some effort to contribute.
I'd also like to see other boots like Rush, Lacuna Coil, I got a ton of audio/video for them also. Basically anything that's legal.

Cheers

jeffs - I remember you well. :) The hub software that I used does not support user/pass, but that was a while ago. There may be something that works now.

I'm also considering making my stuff availble through undernet (edonkey2000, emule, whatever you call the network). That's in the back of my mind. Especially since I see that my mexico show turned up there. Maybe bittorrent, too. I don't know yet. Those 2 are in the back of my mind. Eliminates the need to maintain the hub, but it also doesn't keep it within our community (good or bad thing?).

Another one interested here!
I wasn't on the crew before like jeffs or pierluigi and my collections isn't rich (i only have what is curently available on the net for direct download like the frankfurt audio bootleg) either but i would surely be happy to share what i have :-).
It is better if the material is only uploaded for direct download (i have adsl at my university :-) ) and not on the undernet (for example kazaa). It is extremely hard to track down and download properly what you are looking for if the band you are interested in isn't well known. And moreover the material isn't keep inside the community as you point out.The best thing would be to open the hub and use a username or password but it's up for yo to decide.
Update usf you decide anything memento

I'm a member of a Chilean Hub, where we use the program DC++, which allows us to have a password that has to be given by the Hub administrator, who has the power to ban any user who don't follow certain rules, like having pornography of underage kids for instance.

I guess in that way we could limit the sharing of copyrighted material. I really love this idea, i don't have much material, maybe 12 audio concert, and some videos. So I think a TG hub would be a great way to share some bootlegs.

Cheers

I'm looking into finding hub software that allows for better administration such as having a password to get in etc. I may have to port one of the unix variants over to OSX first, but I am looking into that.

bercaj - I remember you, too. :)

Hi, I'm Pantelis from the Greek room! I'm interested in trading stuff from the Gathering, both video and (especially) audio. I can't say I have much to share, though  !

I'm in for as long as I can. For a few months I'll be on an E1, but the future is unknown...
My vote for both audio and video bootlegs, since I believe it's cool to have and a visual "feeling" of what's going on the gig...

I'm one of the few Americans who like soccer (football). My father grew up in Germany and I've played it all my life. Yes, I bow to the Greeks! :)
