Tough choice for me between HTMAP and Souvenirs and If_Then _else, i guess it depends on the mood i'm in.

the first The Gathering's album I listened to was Nighttime birds and I love it but my favourite is without any doubt Mandylion
btw, each time I listen to Nighttime birds I like it more and more
Dont focus on Anneke's beautiful voice... listen to that music, its amazing

What amazed me so much about Mandylion when I first heard it was just how strong Anneke's voice was. With the loud, heavy guitars & all that I would have expected the vocals to sound weak or drowned out by comparison, but instead she came through loud & clear. Not only that, but I could sense the emotiveness in her singing. It still stirs me now, years later.

What amazes me is the live perfomance with Mandylion songs, e.g. Eleanor from Katowice (the video on Superheat) - Anneke's voice sound like it was very hard to make it go out with such power, like it was squeezed out of her, and then you see her face and no strain on it and it's like wow, it's no problem for her :o

lolololol
that's funny
dont take it THAT serious!!
what's wrong with not being "metal people"??
The Gathering was a metal band so there are still many metal fans and Ive seen most of the people here arent one of those, that's it, nothing to excuuuuuuuuse you :P
take it easy, dude

btw... hardcore?? I like you, you have a lot of imagination

That's what I said, there's no point in saying that un metal people are us :P I didn't take it serious, come on ;)

And just to say what I mean - here in Poland there were some metal people on the concert during Souvenirs tour and they came out cursing after 10 minutes, cause they "didn't wanted to listen how their favourite band became swine" :P

And don't you hear the satanisctic riffs on Souvenirs album? The priest in my church says that it's a sin to listen to TG :P You learn about it even says "the hell with you", they praise satan there!

Oh yeah. TG are obviously trying to get us to worship the Dark Lord of the Underworld. I've heard that Anneke likes to dismember puppies on stage & drink their blood.

Repent, ye sinners, lest ye fall into the fires of eternal damnation!

Bite me.

I just thought the very same thing while listening to Superheat's version of On most surfaces. Why, she sings even more powerfully there than on the album! Incredible. :o

It is simply too difficult for me to choose. I've gotten so much out of every Gathering album since Mandylion....they all mean very much to me.

The best I can do is say my personal favorite would be either HTMAP or Souvenirs.

Though it is utterly impossible to choose one album, after all I've chosen HTMAP. But to be honest, it hangs on by the eyelids, for the others are amazing either...
