In Souvenirs, because it's too soft and touching, and sometimes it's so heavy, like in Spirits, end of Broken Glass... :D

Rene is not a master about guitars.. but I can't deny that I enjoyed his work with jelmer wiersma from demos to ntb a lot... there're very good guitars in songs later of course... but the best performance was in first albums

But he plays of feeling...that's stimes more than skill

Annnd I'm really curious about that promised "rock" sounding of the new stuff

Mandylion. I don't know, there are so many changes. I feel that there's a lot of emotion in the way that the songs are played. Maybe its cause thats the first album I heard from TG and I was really estatic about it the first time I heard it. I had never heard a band with a sound that good. My favorite guitar parts are on this album than any other. The solo on 'Leaves', Sand and Mercury, Strange Machines, Fear the Sea, all rank in my book as some of the best guitarwork for TG.

i like the way the guitars sound in Home album too.

objecting to what some old fans say, guitars are numerous... it doesn lack at all... they just sound very subtil, various (both sweet and noisy) and original... melted with keyboards. René made some huge work for this album.

i consider Home as a real rock LP...

probably those who are disappointed expected for more metal distorted guitar tones i guess...

distortion distortion, why always distortion ?...

Rene's manner of playing guitar is magnificent.
Each album has its own peculiar colouring, and I guess that Rene's guitar sound influences much on the whole album atmosphere.
I love sound at HTMAP and Mandylion most of all.
HTMAP is transparent, mild and three-D.
Mandylion is powerful and stormy. I like this heavy guitar sound. :)

I definitely like his work on 'In Motion Part 1' of the DVD 'A Noise Severe.'
