I first heard them in '92 through some tape trader friends I had (I miss those years so). Doesn't really matter how long you've known them. If you where listening from the beginning or if you barely discovered them, bottom line is, we are ALL fans.

Since 2000 and if_then_else (though Strange machines was probably the first TG song I heard)

I heard TG for the first time in late 97 or early 98, I don't remember; it was the Always album, I thought it was great but it didn't become one of my fav bands, though I really liked the lyrics, they are so poetic there.

Then in late 98 I heard Mandylion and I was like wow!!!! :o what is that? it is amazing, it really got me from the first moment.

After that I listened to Nighttime Birds album having thought before: "ok, I will listen to it but I don't think they surprise me as they did in Always". But again from the first listening i was like :o again.

Since that days I've been charmed with every album  .

as i said before... 1995

during this period, i was already fan of Pearl Jam (it was Vitalogy era! ) and particularly Angra Dream Theater (currently not anymore).

i remember... some new bands like Korn started emerging with Machine Head who released "Burn My eyes" LP ... my fave mates CDs.

about me, I got bored of all these metal stuff ... i was looking for something else... and one day i read a review in a magazine about that band called "The Gathering" and its "mandylion" release ... the writing instantly thrill me ... mentionning "great female vocals and musically unique"... also the colours artwork seemed enigmatic to me too.

i was thinkin "ok, it's probably different from Heart, Lita Ford and Vixen... let's try this ! "

so... searching and searching... It took me one month to get this damn CD in a store... i remember... it was in november...still remember the snow outside... During this time, The Gathering stuffs were so hard to find.

once i saw it (there was only one copy!!) i decided to listened to it before buying it.
only after a few minutes (strange machines track) "mm cool atmosphere", at least Anneke started singing "wow, really great voice!", i got already pressed on the stop button... saying to the seller "mmm it's ok, i take it!!!! i 'll" :green: .... i got back at my home without listening to the other mandylion tracks...

the album was so great to listen ... especially during this winter season... i think i didnt stop listening to it days and nights during ... 1 month... (a great performance to me) :green:

so a cool adventure was beginning...

but still goes on today. :flower:

i'm a bit uncertain. it might be since 1997, but i find it more likely to be since 1998, and with a big questionmark after i could even say 1999... ahem, i don't know really ;)

Since Nighttime Birds, so I figure around 1997, give or take a year.

But I agree with that:

Approximately eight years.
I believe it was late 1997 or early 1998 when I purchased my first The Gathering album, "Nighttime Birds", which was their newest effort back then.

I know them since 1995, when I heard a song of "Mandylion" on a sampler. I instantly fell in love with Anneke's voice :)

About 2-3 years, i think. My gf had offered me Superheat, which always sends me miles high. I then kept an eye and an ear on their works, but not too regurlarily i'm afraid
